COVENANT HOUSE CALIFORNIAJob DescriptionJOB TITLE: Clinical DirectorDIVISION: Oakland Residential REPORTS TO: Senior Vice President, NorCal ABOUT CHC IN 2022: Covenant House California (CHC), a leading provider in Transitional Aged Youth (TAY) services, has experienced exponential growth during the past several years. The agency now has over 200 employees, serves over 4,000 youth a year, through six sites statewide. Much of this growth has occurred in Northern California, which now hosts four Covenant House sites: 1) Covenant House Oakland (Shelter, Transitional Housing, Rapid Re-Housing and Drop-in); 2) DreamCatcher (Shelter and Drop-in for under 18 years olds); 3) YEAH/Covenant House Hayward (Shelter, currently housed near the Oakland Coliseum, but moving to Hayward in 2022); and Santa Clara (Transitional Housing, RRH). CHC is also working on an affordable housing site in Oakland and expanding into Santa Cruz County, both in 2023. This incredible growth has led to the need for expansion and increased mental health services to support the team members working directly with young people at the Northern California Sites.CHC is committed to being part of the solutions that lead to homelessness for young people, through local, State and Federal advocacy, by providing immediate housing and service interventions, and through the development of longer-term housing and employment opportunities for young people to thrive. POSITION SUMMARY: At this time, the agency has a need for a Northern California Clinical Director, who will oversee clinical support of the Northern California sites, through programmatic support, case consultations, crisis management and debriefing, and some 1:1 interventions. The Clinical Director (CD) will also oversee the supervision of clinical interns at sites. We are looking for applicants that have experience working with youth that have experienced homelessness, with traumatic histories, trafficked youth, identify as LGBTQ, are gender non-conforming and/or whom often face multiple issues and have complex needs. The CD will have knowledge and/or experience working with youth development programs, within a harm reduction framework, using trauma informed practices and will value working with a multi-disciplinary team to create a safe inclusive environment for all.Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Northern California, the Clinical Director provides direct clinical leadership to the continuum of services we offer to our programs in Northern California. This would include providing clinical case management supervision, training and the direct service of therapy to youth in program and those on the street. The Clinical Director will work in collaboration with the other Program Directors to ensure that assessments, service planning, documentation and interdisciplinary teamwork to appropriately engage and work with the young people we serve. The Clinical Director will also work in coordination with the Southern California Clinical Director, to enhance and share best practices and specialize our work and programming for trafficked youth. The position also assists in supporting and ensuring that documentation, data tracking and reports for case management contracts and grants are prepared accurately and timely. The Clinical Director works with other CHC Directors on integration across all programs, sites and services.STATUS: Full-time Exempt PositionPAY RANGE: $85,000 to $90,000ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Provide clinical support and direction for CHC''s Northern California sites; including: Crisis management and some on-going group and individual therapeutic interventions to youth in Residential Programs and Wellness Center spaces across sites in NorCal. Ensure that 1:1 therapy and interventions are available to youth that want them either by this position or interns supervised.Assist in crisis intervention and support to staff in various programs through an engaged approach and a coaching standpoint. Facilitate debriefing opportunities with Program Directors to be used as teachable moments and creating feedback loops to better inform our programs and interventions with youth.Day to day operations and leadership to ensure the quality of services in CHC residential services including on-going training and clinical support of the case managers and RA staff in collaboration with Program Directors.The Clinical Director works with several interdisciplinary teams for continued program enhancement and integration across agency programs. Leadership and direction for the continued enhancement of youth intake, assessment and service planning that considers youth experience first and collects needed data for grants and contracts as well as using CHC policy and procedures. In collaboration with the Residential Directors, works to provide timely, accurate and thorough documentation of direct services to youth through paper files, HMIS, ETO and TCM. Ensures that our services and interventions are trauma-informed and within a harm reduction framework.Coordinates and co-facilitates weekly case reviews with the Residential Directors at each site.Recruits, trains and oversees any MSW interns or MFT interns that qualify to do their placements at CHC for school purposes. The Clinical Director will supervise and ensure compliance with these positions.Oversees and coordinates the services related to the medical clinics onsite and other mental health partnerships serving our youth in the community.Ensures that CHC is adequately and consistently represented in community, service provider meetings related to mental health services and supports.Acts as a community expert for coordinating outside resources, linkages and advocacy for CHC youth services.Is responsible for training program staff regarding mental health and substance use with a harm reduction, trauma informed, and housing first approach. This to be done in collaboration with the CPO and SVP.Is responsible to ensure that in-house support services are efficiently and effectively coordinated.Coordinates with Southern California Clinical Director, to maximize best practices, share in training development and scheduling, etc.Ensures updated referral guides are available to case management staff.Participates as part of the management on-call team as assigned.Other duties as assigned.EDUCATION: Master''s Degree in Social Work, Psychology (or related field) EXPERIENCE: 5 years of experience in mental health, youth services and/or residential setting (preferably with runaway and homeless youth). Clinical Licensure required, and at least 2 years, post licensure.SKILLS: Clinical knowledge and skills working with homeless and trafficked youth 13-24. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team approach. Community resource expert. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form.WORKING: 40 hours per week (100%-Full Time) confidential status, exempt status. Some overtime and after hours work is required as a condition of employment.SUPERVISORY DUTIES: The position supervises the clinician and clinical case management positions on staff (2 to 3 part-time staff) and any MSW interns and/or field placement students.TRANSPORTATION: Must have a valid CA driver license, reliable transportation and a good driving record.CONDITIONS: Sitting, standing, walking and driving.EQUIPMENT USED: Computers, fax machines, telephones and other office equipment.All Covenant House California staff is required to be fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19.
