We sit at the intersection between entertainment, sports, and technology and seek to connect viewers with the stories they love, while pushing the streaming industry forward with consumer-first innovation.Disney Streaming is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Subscriber Environment and Entitlements team within the Media Engineering organization. The Subscriber Environment and Entitlements team''s mission is to build highly available, high throughput services that are critical to delivering high quality content to our subscribers. If you enjoy streaming media, are interested in live sports and entertainment, or just want to join a fast-growing team that plays a critical role in the core functionality of our streaming products, then our team is for you.ResponsibilitiesWork with a distributed team of engineers building software in a collaborative development processBuild high-performance, stable, scalable systems to be deployed in an enterprise settingLead high-level architecture discussions and planning sessionsParticipate in the code review process by providing feedback on pull requestsParticipate in the on-call rotation, supporting systems and services during production incidentsAuthor and provide feedback on technical proposals and root cause analysesProvide mentoring and advice for other engineersEstablish engineering best practices and standards within the team to drive quality and excellenceContribute to the DS technical community through presentations, tech talks, and other knowledge-sharing effortsBasic QualificationsAt minimum 5 years of experienceExperience delivering backend applications in a production environmentExpertise in functional programming and ScalaExperience building RESTful servicesUnderstanding of async programming models (events, callbacks, promises, async/await) and threading/concurrencyUnderstanding of source control concepts and exposure to GitSelf-learner, independent, excellent problem-solving skillsExperience with build and deployment technologies such as Jenkins and DockerExperience working with AWSExcellent written and verbal communication skillsBachelors Degree in Computer Science or related fieldAdditional Information:Location: New York, NY, San Francisco, CA, or Seattle, WA preferred but also open to US remote for the right candidate.The pay range for this position in Colorado is $117,752 to $157,960 per year, however, base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
