Job Description BAE Systems is seeking an experienced Engineering Planning Specialist to function as the Coordinator of AEGIS Operations and Missions with extensive Navy leadership and management experience coordinating operations and maintenance teams. The successful candidate will be part of our experienced technical team located at the Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC), Wallops Island, VA. SCSC is located on a barrier island on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and is a tenant activity of NASA''s Wallops Flight Facility. SCSC provides live surface combat systems platform support for AEGIS Cruisers/Destroyers and SSDS Aircraft Carriers and Amphibious ships. Areas of support include, new system installation/activation/testing, Life Cycle Engineering, Element Integration, Live Fleet Operations, System Certification, Operational/Technical Evaluation, Fleet Emergent testing, CASREP support, Fleet training, interoperability testing and Combat Systems Qualification Trials. The selected candidate will:- Coordinate, oversee, monitor and report on all mission activities at the AEGIS facility, SCSC Wallops Island Virginia- Serve as the single Point Of Contact for all matters related to AEGIS Operations and Readiness- Oversea the efforts of the Operations contractor work force at AEGIS, to ensure compliance in all matters related to safety, security and mission execution- Provide direct supervision to the AEGIS Readiness and Operations leadership- Promulgate mission priorities to the AEGIS staff- Provide weekly, monthly, quarterly and semi-annual reports to contractor, Government and Navy leadership as required.- Ensure that SSDS contractor Operations and Readiness staff are adhering to promulgated policies and procedures governing the conduct of business- Provide senior leadership in all matters related mission support at the AEGIS facility- Report to the AEGIS Site Manager Required Education, Experience, & Skills High School Diploma and at least eight (8) years of AEGIS experience in the Operations/Readiness/Maintenance team on an AEGIS Cruiser, Destroyer or Land-Based Test Site, including Five (5) years of technical management and leadership experience on AEGIS Combat Systems platforms to include managing technical performance, equipment reliability, maintainability, cost, schedule and delivery requirements. Additional skills/experience required includes:* Directing maintenance staff, programs and schedules on AEGIS Combat Systems equipment and systems* Building and reviewing test plans and maintenance plans* Overseeing and reporting on the activation and integration of new systems* Coordinating and reporting on high-level system troubleshooting efforts* Impeccable technical writing and oral presentation skills* Experience scheduling and facilitating technical meetings* Root Cause AnalysisSecurity clearance requirement: This position requires the successful candidate to be able to obtain a Secret level clearance. The criteria for obtaining and holding a clearance are driven by US government requirements. You must be a US citizen to obtain a security clearance. The selected candidate will receive a contingent offer and start date will be delayed until at least an interim Secret clearance is granted.
