Job Number: R0138903 Bio and Bio-inspired Materials Consultant, MidThe Challenge: We''re looking for a skilled biologist and subject matter expert to help drive advancements at the intersection of bioinformatics and marine science to support research programs for the DoD. As a scientist and engineer, you understand the challenges in Electro-Optical/Infra-Red (EO/IR) signature and materials science and technology related to biopolymer materials and research. Your experience and knowledge are key when it comes to supporting high-risk, high-reward projects that seek revolutionary change beyond the state-of-the-art. As part of our team, you''ll serve as a strategic technical consultant for advanced government-funded research and development program-building programs that help revolutionize the world. You''ll work with world-class scientists and engineers for a DoD client to impact national security investments through the development of cutting-edge technologies. You''ll leverage technical expertise to provide strategic assessments of new technologies in support of senior DoD decision makers. You''ll maintain responsibility for producing and presenting findings and recommendations to a team of colleagues and clients on the feasibility and potential impact of future research programs, assisting with the management of current programs, and facilitating the transition of program deliverables to DoD stakeholders. This position is a hybrid role with a combination of working at a Booz Allen office or client site and working remotely. This position is located in Arlington, VA. Empower change with us. You Have: * 5+ years of experience in materials science, biology, marine genetics, microbiology, or bioinformatics field, including graduate research * Experience with authoring technical papers, reports, or program plans for technical and non-technical audiences * Ability to explain and present complex scientific concepts to a broad audience * Ability to obtain a security clearance * Doctorate degree Nice If You Have: * 2+ years of experience with postdoctoral academic or industrial research * Experience performing research in EO/IR signatures and detection methods leveraging materials science, including polymer materials, and biological and bioinspired materials development preferred * Experience with optimization of bioinformatics techniques and hands-on research * Experience with DoD research and development projects * Experience with technical project or program management * Experience in a client-facing work environment * Ability to display multiple first author contributions to peer-reviewed papers or patents * Top Secret clearance * Doctorate degree in a field relevant to supporting EO/IR technologies, materials science, or biopolymer materials Clearance: Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
