Job Description

Overview: Manages the overall operation of the catering facility during an event as well as handling all the preparation before, during, and after an event. Ensures all food and beverage products offered are of the highest quality for our guests and associates. Supervises and reviews the work of his or her subordinates on a regular basis. Ensures divisional and park standards are being met at all times and works hard to generate high profit margins without sacrificing any company cornerstones. Participates in the division on-duty rotation and provides oversight to additional food locations as assigned. Responsibilities: Supervises over seventy (70) subordinates directly and indirectly; gives direction on event execution, planning, and coordinating. Recommends employee promotion, transfer requests and discipline, not excluding discharge. Works with Group Sales, reviews scheduled events, manages client relations, negotiates contracts, and evaluates guest satisfaction via survey system. Regularly meets with Group Sales and clients to help plan events, meetings, and seminars. Oversees multiple events at one time; including several different events, e.g., picnics, formal dinners, and employee functions. Helps train and educate both direct reports and indirect subordinates the fundamentals of catered events. Provides constant feedback on event set-up, culinary operations, and overall event execution. Participates in the division on-duty rotation and provides oversight to additional food locations as assigned. Ensures all local and state DOL and health regulations are being met. Constantly monitors food quality standards for all types of functions. Ensures all park assets are meeting or exceeding operational standards and develops maintenance plan, if not. Monitors operating budget to ensure department is meeting or exceeding all revenue and expense goals. Monitors cost of goods sold through food waste control systems. Implements an associate schedule to reflect the volume of functions for that time period. Develops programs to constantly improve area of operations and increase levels of efficiencies and throughput. Receives and responds to all guest/client failures in a timely manner. Takes corrective action as necessary to maintain effectiveness of catering/special events and product. Adheres to and enforces all Cedar Fair and specific Park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to customer service in all aspects of employment. Other duties may be assigned. Qualifications: Associate''s Degree (2 year College or Tech School), Management, Business/Hospitality Management. 2 - 4 Years Related Experience, Catering Services. Must be at Least 21 Years of Age. Experience in providing catering services for large private parties and events. Knowledgeable in the areas of food service operations and management, health safety, procurement, inventory management, budgeting, accounting, point of sale systems, laws, ordinances, standards and regulations, etc. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Excel and Word. Ability to make sound, educated decisions. Reacts calmly and quickly in an emergency situation. Excellent communication skills required to interact with Park management, subordinates, guests, vendors, contractors, etc. to maintain effective relationships. Ability to plan, organize and direct a managerial staff. Must be able to apply supervisory and managerial concepts and principles; knowledge of administrative principles involved in developing, directing and supervising various programs and related activities. Ability to work nights, weekends and holiday periods to meet business needs. Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law. Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law. Certifications required: ServSafe Alcohol, California Food Handlers Card. Valid Driver''s License.
