Job Title:Registered Nurse 2 - Neuro ICU (Nights) - $5K Sign on bonus!Department:11 West Tower - NSICUShift:4th (Rotating)Full/Part:Active Regular FT (72 to 80 hours per pay period)Specialty:NeuroICUJob Number:2022-3075Job Description:Registered Nurse 2 - Neuro ICU - 11W Tower (nights)Are you a RN, passionate about bringing your expertise to the Neuroscience Intensive Care unit?If so, you are the right candidate for this position!We are offering a $5,000 sign on bonus for experienced critical care RN candidatesPosition Highlights:Neuro ICU is a 28 bed intensive care unitThe unit provides multidisciplinary care to critically ill patients with a variety of neurological problemsState of the art technology for temperature management, continuous cardiac output monitoring, and brain tissue oxygen temperature monitoringFixed CT scanner located on the unitShifts are 12 hoursSupportive leadership and staff; preceptor orientation providedStaff nursing opportunities to participate in research, teaching and other activities for professional development1Position Responsibilities:Participates in the collection of data to support unit based quality initiatives, research and evidence based activities. Utilizes system wide resources to support decision making and action. Recognizes patterns/groupings of problems in a specific patient population that require investigation and initiates actions to address. Communicates current evidence-based information with peers.Establishes a caring, therapeutic relationship with patients and families through effective communication, acknowledgement of patient/family perceptions of health and illness and mutual goal setting for optimal outcomes. Collaborates consistently and effectively with other disciplines and services to meet the needs of patient.Utilizes competent assessment skills to holistically evaluate the physical and psychosocial needs of patients and families. Demonstrates the ability to prioritize care for complex patients based on knowledge acquired from previous clinical experiences. Recognizes changes in patient status and consistently responds effectively.Demonstrates the ability to prioritize care for complex patients based on knowledge acquired from previous clinical experiences. Demonstrates accountability for implementing policies related to safe and effective administration of medications. Assesses patient safety needs consistently and implements appropriate strategies (fall precautions, infection control, suicide risk patient identification) to minimize risk. Individualizes teaching plans based on a thorough assessment to meet the learning needs of patients and families.Utilizes competent assessment skills to holistically evaluate the physical and psychosocial needs of patients and families.Demonstrates the ability to provide education to staff and students on the unit. Demonstrates beginning leadership skills related topatient care. Delegates effectively and consistently to optimize patient outcomes. Demonstrates accountability for own professional practice, including progress toward achievement of annual goals.Position Qualifications Include:Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse Licensure required.Earned nursing degree at the baccalaureate level or higher (except RN1s hired and already working at Rush University Medical Center before October, 2012). All transfers from other Rush entities must have an earned nursing degree at the baccalaureate level or higher prior to transfer into Rush University Medical Center or Rush University Medical Group.1-2 years of critical care experience required.Current BLS required (American Heart Association or American Red Cross).Skills:Analytical ability is munication skills are required in order to lead and teach.Ability to interact effectively with others in difficult situations.Abilities:Work requires the ability to walk throughout the Medical Center and to be standing or walking most of the designated shift.Work requires lifting or carrying objects 35-40lbs. and lifting and positioning patients, some of whom may exceed 300 lbs.The ability to check documents for errors, use a keyboard to enter or retrieve data, and closely examine specimens, images or reports is required.Work conditions include performing procedures where carelessness could result in injury or illness and/or contact with potentially infectious materials and/or strong chemical pany Highlights :Rush University Medical Center is a five-time Magnet facility, the highest recognition given for nursing excellence.
