General job duties. Types of procedures required. Management of inpatients with traumatic injuries and/or management of critically-ill trauma patients at a level one Trauma center. Procedures (arterial and central line placement, chest tube placement), if qualified (not required).2. Equipment utilized in the unit/dept. (Is there computerized charting, medication systems, etc.) EPIC EMR3. Required skills and minimum years of experience. One year experience 4. Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc) BLS, ACLS, ATLS5. Shift or schedule requirements. (Will the employee ever work alone? Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?) Night shift 6P-6A including weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Will not work alone: Two Acute Care Surgery Attendings present at all times. 1-2 APPs also present every shift plus residents.6. Floating to other units/departments. (If so, to which units/departments?) Will cover inpatient Trauma (med-surg level) or Surgical critical care or Emergency General Surgery service.7. Bed size/number of rooms for this unit/dept. Inpatient trauma average census: 40, Surgical Critical Care average census: 18, Emergency General Surgery average census: 158. Nurse to patient ratio of this unit. (nursing only) N/A 9. Dress Code: Surgical scrubs (hospital provided) or black scrubs.10. Tell us about the unit/department specific training and orientation program. New-provider orientation, on service orientation Provide comprehensive care to patients with acute surgical and non-surgical conditions including traumatic injuries, critical illness, and emergent/acute surgical conditions. Provide care to patients across the healthcare continuum from prevention to recovery and in various settings including the Emergency Department, inpatient ward, intensive care unit, operating room, and outpatient clinic. Diagnose medical conditions, plan and implement interventions, and evaluate patient responses in collaboration with a designated supervising physician. Perform and assist with diagnostic and therapeutic medical and/or surgical procedures. Required Qualifications: Nurse Practitioner • Master''s degree in nursing from an accredited school/college of nursing required.• Minimum of two years RN experience or equivalent combination of RN and nurse practitioner experience combined (two years of RN experience equals one year of APRN experience) required.• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nebraska or current compact state required. • Currently licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Practitioner (APRN) required. • Appropriate certification required based on position, department and population served: Adult Gerontology Acute Care (AGACNP-BC); Adult (ANP-BC); Family (FNP-BC) - will be required to obtain post graduate certificate for AGACNP-BC within 3 years of hire or transfer date Adult Gerontology Primary Care (AGPCNP-BC) -will be required to obtain post graduate certificate for AGACNP-BC within 3 years of hire or transfer date Physician Assistant• Master''s degree from an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program OR bachelor''s degree with ten years of current active Physician Assistant experience and approval from the Director of the Office of Advanced Practice OR if bachelor''s degree with less than ten years current active experience sign a written agreement consenting to obtain a Master''s degree from an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program within three years from date of transfer or hire and approval from the Director of the Office of Advanced Practice required. • Ability to maintain Continuing Medical Education (CME) hours to meet State of Nebraska and NCCPA Certification by the National Commission of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) [Or if new graduate, eligible for certification and certification completed prior to beginning to provide care] required. • Currently licensed as a Physician Assistant in the State of Nebraska (or eligible for license prior to beginning to provide care) required.Both Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant• Ability to function with autonomy and able to make independent decisions while functioning as part of a comprehensive team required. • Ability to effectively communicate in verbal and written forms required. • Ability to provide critical thinking and analytical skills required. • Efficient use of information systems, data processing systems, telecommunication devices, office equipment, and audiovisual teaching/education resources required. • Ability to comprehend and follow policy, procedure, guidelines and protocols required. • Flexibility and dedication to team involvement and supporting organizational goals required.• Familiar with patient care equipment as appropriate to specialty area required. • Knowledge of health care policy and societal factors affecting the delivery of care required. • Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) licensure required. • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, must be from an American Heart Association endorsed program upon first renewal.• Advanced Cardiovascular Life (ACLS) required, must be from an American Heart Association endorsed program upon first renewal.• Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification within six months of transfer or hire required.Preferred Qualifications: Nurse Practitioner• Adult Gerontology Acute Care (AGACNP-BC) certification preferred. Physician Assistant • Prior experience working in a related health care field as a Physician Assistant preferred.
