LinQuest is seeking a Senior Aerospace Engineer with an understanding of different aircraft propulsion systems (conventional, hybrid-electric, fuel-cell, full-electric), lift systems (rotor-lift, powered-lift, winged-lift), takeoff and landing profiles (conventional takeoff and landing (CTOL), vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL), short takeoff and landing (STOL)), and various levels of autonomy. The candidate will work remotely with an interdisciplinary team to support the Department of Defense in the Washington, D.C. area to analyze future VTOL capabilities and concepts by using modeling and simulation.This position is remote but candidates in the Washington, DC area are preferred. Responsibilities: * Develop detailed traditional and future aircraft performance and cost models.* Review previously developed Python models used to determine aircraft performance and update models as appropriate. Evaluate technical aircraft data to determine if claimed performance is feasible based on vehicle properties.* Understand projected technological advancements and evaluate how these advancements may affect performance and costs of future concepts.* Advise the team and the government in multiple areas, to include promising future aircraft, key performance limitations, required support infrastructure, and strategic areas for investment in the area of VTOL technologies or interest to the DoD.Required Skills and Experience: * Bachelors degree in aerospace engineering* At least 10 years of relevant experience* Aviation domain experience* Expertise developing flight performance models and evaluating aircraft characteristics for feasibility* Proficient in Python* Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team* Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially when communicating technical information to audiences with varying backgrounds* Expertise using the Microsoft Office Suite of tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)* US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret security clearancePreferred Skills and Experience: * Masters or PhD in aerospace engineering* Understanding of military operations* Knowledge of utility theory* Experience with VBABenefits: LinQuest offers comprehensive and competitive benefit offerings to our team members to include medical, dental, vision, retirement, paid time off, company paid life insurance, and more!
