Database Administrator with Security Clearance

What You Will Be DoingThe Database Administrator serves as database SME to provide recommendations and guidance to the Government PM, OMS team, and development team on database best practices and solutions. Provides database administration support for existing on-premises databases supporting OMS and unit systems and processes (not to exceed 20). Migrates existing on-premises SQL Server databases into AWS. The Contractor shall:• Configure and manage SQL database backup plans;• Implement database security best practices in accordance with government requirements and per guidance provided by the Government PM;• Monitor queries and provide optimization and efficiency recommendations to the Government PM and application development team members;• Determine recommended solution for database migration, create project plan documents, including task-focused schedules, and execute migration plan for on- premises SQL Server databases into AWS;• Provide status updates on a biweekly interval or an interval as set by the Government PM;• Manage existing database replication services;• Configure and manage logging;• Monitor system performance and identify and resolve issues that arise;• Design and implement appropriate AWS SQL configuration for redundancy and failover for migrated databases; and• Assist with database management and provide design recommendations to application development team members. Who You AreMinimum/General Experience:• Five (5) years of experience in SQL Server database administration;• Two (2) years of proven experience with development and management of databases within AWS;• Two (2) years of experience with database performance tuning and optimization;• Proven experience working on an agile software development team with agile and scrum methodology;• Experience with SQL programming and database design;• Ability to quickly problem solve, troubleshoot, and resolve database issues.
