Job Type Full-timeDescriptionA registered nurse with supervisory experience who organizes and directs the work of the nursing staff and nursing support staff to assure effective nursing services are provided and quality standards are met. Also functions to develop and maintain an environment that supports the professional nurse and staff.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes the following and other duties may be assigned: -Maintains nursing staff by recruiting, selecting, and providing orientation and training for nurses and nursing staff -Participates in overseeing nursing budget and expense control including recruitment and hiring.-Satisfies patient care requirements by scheduling and assigning nursing and staff to office locations and various positions -Maintains nursing staff performance by encouraging, counseling and disciplining employees as needed-Maintains nursing operation by initiating, coordinating and enforcing institutions nursing and personnel policies-Ensures operation of medical and administrative equipment by verifying emergency equipment availability, maintaining equipment and troubleshooting malfunctions, arranging for repair and maintaining equipment and supply inventories. Also evaluates new equipment and techniques.-Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological and spiritual support to patients and families.-Facilitates communication and problem solving between departments and serves as a liaison between the physicians and nursing and other department heads.-Works directly with Quality and Education nurse to develop and implement nursing policies and procedures. Provides information and education to nursing, physicians, pharmacy and healthcare team as it becomes available.-Meets with nursing department regularly to discuss nursing care, provide education and promote problem solving.-Meets with other departments, patient relations, laboratory, pharmacy, billing, IT, human resources and administration as needed to identify needs, problem solve and implement education and changes as they relate to nursing functions.-Works directly with physician, pharmacy and nursing to develop and maintain clinical regimens and to promote the highest standards of nursing care.-Collaborates with drug and equipment suppliers, educators, hospitals, nursing agencies, hospice, pharmacies and other healthcare teams to promote education, continuity and quality of care both within and outside of the institution.-Provides 24-hour support to administration, physicians and nursing staff.-Provides 24 hour on-call support to patients and their families who are receiving home chemotherapy.-Participates in direct patient care whenever necessary and monitors direct patient care to promote the highest standards of evidence-based practice which ensuring compliance with standards of State Board of Nursing, NCCN and ONS guidelines.RequirementsCONTACTS: Regular contact with Medical Center personnel.EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: Registered nurse with Bachelor of Science Degree with a minimum of 5 years of Oncology Experience and 3 years of supervisory experience. Oncology Nursing Certification, chemotherapy Certification, CPR Certification and current RN License in the State of New JerseyREQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES: N/APHYSICAL DEMANDS: Sits constantly with occasional walking.
