Description Vision & Strategy Leadership Develop, design, direct and manage the Dallas ISD tutoring strategy including, but not limited to: tutoring with contracted entities, joint venture tutoring with high education institutions, and district run tutoring services Plan develop and direct strategic and operational plans needed to ensure students receive high dosage and consistent tutoring services. Recommend, as needed, new policies or amendments to existing policies related to tutoring services Continually evaluate essential tutoring instructional programs through school visits, classroom observation, modeling, data analysis, and consultation with teachers and administratorsProgrammatic Leadership Supervise and provide leadership for district supported tutoring services on all Dallas ISD campuses Manage all school tutoring service programs Develop and implement a tutoring program evaluation plan Oversee the involvement of staff in evaluating and selecting instructional materials to meet student learning needs in tutoring programs Collaborate with Communication Services to disseminate information to schools and stakeholders regarding Tutoring Services programs and initiatives Ensure that students in the tutoring program receive snacks and meals during tutoring services occurring before school, after school and Saturdays according to District policy Ensure that transportation services are provided for students attending tutoring as applicable to program design Oversee the collaboration with the Division of Technology Services to ensure that students receiving tutoring services are identified utilizing the district created application and are indicated with the proper codes Oversee tutoring attendance documentation process to ensure that proper attendance is captured and ensure the issuance of tutoring progress reports Provide training to all campus principals for tutoring program and procedures Keep abreast of technical, legislative, and professional trends and developments affecting assigned programs Communicate and collaborate with PEIMS department to submit tutoring services data for required submissions to the Texas Education Agency Ensure department compliance with TEA, state, federal and school board policies and laws Direct and supervise tutoring services programs in accordance with the district''s policies and applicable lawsFinancial & Budgetary Leadership Direct and administer budgets including special revenue funding, Title 1, and general operating funds and ensuring effective utilization of funds Oversee the selection and purchase of departmental equipment, materials, supplies, and capital purchases Work with Procurement Services Department to read and score RFP''s for master contracts for goods and services associated with Tutoring Services Initiate contracts for goods and services associated with tutoring services by following procurement guidelines and approval from legal services Collaborate with the Compensation Department and the Payroll Department to ensure payment amounts and processing of supplemental pay for DISD employees serving as tutorsPartnership Engagement Collaborate and build positive relationships with funders/contributors of tutoring services Collaborate with campus leaders to ensure that schools selected for tutoring services have a dedicated space that is conducive for tutors to work with students Ensure partnership agreements are in place as needed for tutoring programsSupervision, Management, and Communication Prepare reports and planning documents requiring technical precision, accuracy, readability and editorial correctness; and develop systems based on management by objective and results Supervise the activities of the department in accordance with the district''s policies and applicable laws Interview, hire, supervise and train new and existing employees Plan, assign, and direct employees'' work to include appraising job performances, reward, and disciplining employees Address complaints and resolve problems in a timely manner Perform all other tasks and duties as assignedQualifications Bachelor''s degree from an accredited university in a directly related field; Master''s Degree in Education preferred Five years of related experience Familiarity with tutoring strategies and structures for all grade levels Knowledge and experience in working with nonprofit and community organizations Able to manage large-scale projects Knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and the educational process Aptitude to clearly articulate the interests of the district in district, state, and national forums Able to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously Administrative ability to manage staff and resources. Ability to communicate with the community''s diversity, district staff, and the public at large. Broad knowledge of after-school and/or summer learning and tutoring programs. Understanding of school district organizations, operations, and administrative policies. Must have experience or demonstrated a desire to work in an urban school district.
