These include the P-8A Poseidon and KC-46A Pegasus.The Advanced Technology Support Lab (LB19) within BR&T Manufacturing Research & Development (MR&D) is responsible for researching, evaluating, developing, testing, and implementing highly technical solutions in support of Puget Sound Commercial Derivative Aircraft (P-8, KC-46 Tanker, E-7, VC-25B), including the associated assembly, modification and delivery centers for each aircraft.We are seeking both Associate as well as Mid-Level engineers to work at the Developmental Center in Tukwila, Washington and Everett, Washington locations on technology development projects. Current projects involve mechatronics and automation such as automated guided vehicles, a refueling handling system and a foreign object retrieval robotic arm. The tasks performed by our engineers involve mechanical and electrical design, programming controls, assembling and testing the prototype hardware/systems. Additional projects utilize 3D printing to quickly design/build prototype shop aides and tools.Position Responsibilities:Utilize in-lab equipment and off-the-shelf technology to design, code, prototype, and test early-stage solutions for production environments in collaboration with lab lead and teammatesDevelop engineering skills in mechanisms / kinematics and embedded systems (Raspberry Pi''s and Arduinos) with software / hardware interface in robotics & automation projectsDo mechanical design using CATIA or Solidworks and do FEA analysisElectric circuitry layout, build and testUsing 3D printing; design and fabricate of shop aids, tools and prototypesIntegrate knowledge of factory environment and additive manufacturing into emerging support technologiesIn conjunction with shop mechanics, test and evaluate prototype solutions and make improvementsThis position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistryPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):3+ years'' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experienceExperience with Mechatronics designExperience with electronics circuit layout and board design. KiCad preferenceExperience with mechanical design using CATIA or Solidworks and do FEA analysisExperience with 3D printing; design and fabricate of shop aids, tools and prototypesExperience with machining tools and equipmentTypical Education/Experience: Associate (Level 2)Bachelor''s degree and typically 2 or more years'' experience in an engineering classification or a Master''s degree with experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.Mid-Level (Level 3)Bachelor''s degree and typically 5 or more years'' experience in an engineering classification or a Master''s degree with typically 3 or more years'' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.Relocation:Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position.
