This position is for a highly motivated team leader of 10+ software engineers whose charter is to design, develop, test, and deploy mission critical weapon systems software for the United States Navy and Air Force. This team develops software solutions that provide critical aircraft mission communication and processing systems spanning unclassified to Top Secret levels.As our organization is growing quickly, this position will initially focus primarily on hiring to meet our expanding software departments need for highly qualified engineers as well as leading the onboarding for these new hires. Once our staffing needs are met, the position will transition into a traditional software management role directing program execution and career development. An individual in this role will interface with technical and non-technical personnel throughout Collins Aerospace. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Strong technical, organizational, and leadership skills are also required. This role is located in Richardson, TX, relocation is available for qualified applicants.Signing bonuses of up to $20,000 are available for active security clearance holders. Primary Responsibilities:Technical direction - candidate must be able to direct the utilization of software engineering fundamentals, project design, and software test concepts for mission processing communication systemsProgram technical and execution planning - candidate must be able to guide team members on program planning and execution, staffing plans, and technical risk assessments in support of customer expectations and business objectivesProject management - candidate must be able to guide team members on the management of scope, schedule, and budget for software engineering activities; candidate must be well versed in using Earned Value Management System (EVMS) performance measurement; candidate must be able to assign and coordinate staffingBid and proposal - candidate must be able to lead, review, and provide guidance to team members on bid and proposal activities for pursuitsPersonnel administration - candidate must be able to perform hiring, performance assessment and personnel management for a team of technical staff membersCoaching and mentoring candidate should demonstrate a passion for coaching and mentoring engineers in both personal and professional developmentCandidate will lead the engineering team using strong interaction, interpersonal, mentoring and negotiating skills, and will be responsible for managing project risks/issues and elevating to upper management when appropriate. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for adhering to, and supporting Collins Aerospace process methodologies while developing and managing commitments to meet project financial and schedule deliverables and quality requirements.Basic Qualifications:Must be a U.S. CitizenMust have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirementsBachelors degree and 10 years of prior relevant experience ORAdvanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience ORIn absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is requiredEngineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelors degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws / regulations.Practical experience in all phases of product development (full life cycle)Previous experience as a lead software engineer, project lead, IPT lead, and/or CAMPreferred Qualifications:Active Secret or Top Secret clearanceExperience with VLF, HF, V/UHF, satcom communication systemsExperience/knowledge with development methods such as AgileDirect experience in development of software bid and proposal effortsExperience with hiring and onboarding new employeesC ollins Aerospace, a Raytheon Technologies company, is a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry.
