Job Summary:The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Specialist coordinates activities in support of Greenbrier''s IDEAL (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Access and Leadership) commitment. This position is housed within the Corporate Communications and External Affairs group and reports to the Corporate Communications Manager. The DEI Specialist also works cross-functionally with the Human Resources group, other company leaders, and employees from functions across the organization to identify, define and facilitate companywide and function-specific initiatives.Primary Responsibilities:* Lead the Diversity and Inclusion Strategy Committee (DISC) and sub-committees in support of our IDEAL* Facilitate meetings with Site Action Committee and Employee Resource Group (ERG) Leads to support and develop consistent solutions across the Greenbrier network.* Guide and support the development of ERGs, including planning meetings, budgeting and acting as a liaison with ERG leaders and executive sponsors.* Organize companywide events that advance dialogue and* Partner with business unit leaders to increase the sense of inclusion and belonging on their* Work closely with HR colleagues and staff to make Greenbrier''s overall employee experience and culture more inclusive.* Draft ongoing communications materials and updates for:* Board and management* Social media and companywide communications (emails, ESG report, GBtv, website, newsletter).* External presentations.* Collaborate with the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and internal and external trainers on the continued integration of IDEAL education at Greenbrier. Coordinate training delivery throughout the organization. Research and recommend training vendors and content.* Attend DEI seminars and workshops, including those sponsored by Manufacturing Alliance, Manufacturing Institute, Partners in Diversity and other groups.* Provide subject matter expertise on DEI practices to help shape Greenbrier''s ongoing strategy and make recommendations for goals to further the IDEAL commitment.* Participate as a Greenbrier''s Corporate Giving Committee member to foster and strengthen relationships with underserved groups.* Represent Greenbrier at designated community and charitable* Lead and participate in cross-functional projects asRequired Qualifications and Experience:* Passion for DEI work and desire to advance objectives* Experience implementing and evolving diversity and inclusion initiatives that align with business needs and priorities* Proficient or ability to learn digital design tools (Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, etc.)* Demonstrated understanding of current DEI subjects and best practices* Previous experience working with employee resource groups preferred* Demonstrated ability to understand, relate to, and communicate with cross-cultural individuals and groups to overcome challenges and defuse conflicts* Experience building partnerships and working collaboratively, engaging stakeholders and building relationships at all levels of the organization* Experience organizing, writing and editing impactful business communications and materials* Excellent research skills, including an ability to extract insights and recommendations from multiple data sources* Demonstrated problem-solving, decision-making and prioritization skills* Ability to work independently, multi-task and adapt to changes* Exceptional time management skills and proven ability to meet deadlines* Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information* Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Equal Opportunity Employer Minorities/Women/Protected Veterans/Disabled
