Job Description

Description: The General Ledger Accountant is an accounting position requiring sound knowledge of accrual principles and generally accepted accounting principles. Under the supervision of the General Ledger Manager, this position will be responsible for accurate and timely input of adjusting journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and other related financial activities for the Snoqualmie Tribe. Requirements: Assist in preparing entries and reconciliations for month end and annual closingMaintain supporting documentation for accounting entries to support internal and external auditsMaintain schedules for fixed assets, long term debt, prepaid, or other balance sheet accountsAssist auditors with journal entry examinationsAssist in preparing reports and financial statements monthlyAssist in developing and reviewing narratives for recurring financial statementsAssist in forecasting, coordination, and preparation during the annual budgeting processReview transactions monthly, quarterly, and annually to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, and prepare adjusting entries as neededPreparing recurring entry templates, simplifying work papers, and other tasks to increase efficiency during the close processResearching financial and administrative topics to provide information and/or recommendations that impact the organizationPrepare ad-hoc reporting as requestedOther duties as assigned by the General Ledger Manager or Chief Financial OfficerQualificationsPossession of a Baccalaureate degree in accounting or business administration - or related field - from an accredited college or universityOne (1) year experience in accrual general ledger accounting preferredAny combination of training, education or experience equivalent to the aboveExperience in governmental (GASB) fund accounting is preferredExperience organizing and maintaining complex filesExperience working in a high pressure environment and in meeting tight deadlinesAbility to process a large volume of transactionsAbility to comply with department and Tribal policies and proceduresAbility to maintain accurate records and attention to detailsKnowledge of modern computer accounting systems and softwareAbility to work in a stressful, fast paced environmentAbility to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writingAbility to maintain confidential informationAbility to follow instructions and adhere to prescribed routines and practicesAbility to complete assigned work efficiently and accuratelyProficient skills in 10-key, Microsoft Office, and particularly Excel (V-Look ups, Pivots, etc.)Other RequirementsMust agree to be subject to the Tribe''s Controlled Substance and Alcohol Testing Policy to include pre-employment screening.Must pass background check.Tribal PreferenceThe Snoqualmie Indian Tribe follows the Tribal Hiring Preference as outlined in tribal policies, including the Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance (TERO). TERO sets forth certain hiring preferences for qualified individuals who are enrolled in a federally recognized Indian tribe, as well as, in some cases, preference for certain family members of those individuals.Additional InformationThis is a full-time salaried position and employment is at-will. Salary range is $71,000-$81,000, DOE.
