ResponsibilitiesFunctions as a team member in providing comprehensive therapeutic care as part of the outpatient cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation program. Serves as a case manager for patients enrolled in outpatient pulmonary rehabilitation. Primary focus is to assess and instruct patients in self-management skills, such as breathing exercises and the use of medications and respiratory equipment, participate in developing appropriate exercise plans (including cardiovascular, resistance and flexibility exercises), progress exercise in a safe manner and monitor patient''s tolerance, identify appropriate oxygen devices and titrate oxygen as needed, participate in the development of initial treatment plans, 30 day treatment plans and discharge treatment plans. Perform in-patient screens to assess if patient is a candidate for outpatient pulmonary rehabilitation. Serve as a resource for other cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation team members regarding respiratory care techniques. Inspects, cleans, tests and maintains respiratory therapy equipment to ensure equipment is functioning safely and efficiently, ordering repairs when necessary. Education RequirementsAssociate''s degree in respiratory therapy. Preferred: Bachelor''s degree in respiratory therapy. Current N.C. Respiratory Therapist license, Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). Current BLS and ACLS. Minimum Experience, Knowledge, Skill, and Ability RequirementsPrior outpatient pulmonary rehabilitation experience preferred.
