MITRE has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Systems Engineer to develop digital engineering solutions for multiple warfighting commands with a primary focus on Model Based Systems Engineering and integration with other digital engineering capabilities. This position is located at Shaw AFB, home to the 20th Fighter Wing, Army Central Command, Air Forces Central Command, and the 55th Attack Group. The ideal candidate should have a military background or the desire to learn about military operations and systems, be able to work in a high operational tempo environment and be able learn new technical areas. In partnership with warfighting commands, other DoD organizations, vendors and colleagues at MITRE, you will model sponsor decision processes and missions and recommend technological solutions for the integration of new C2, ISR or C4 systems into the current DoD architectures for the US military to maintain its warfighting dominance. Key Functions: * You will work in a collaborative team environment to develop models and simulations for complex DoD systems to include:* Senario-based modeling with multiple users and platforms participating in a range of missions following existing or future operational concepts* Network and protocol modeling of aerial, airborne, and terrestrial networks* You will develop new models and leverage existing models to conduct analyses and support actionable data-driven technical recommendations.* You will work to integrate different types of models and systems to conduct simulation experiments in support of sponsors projects* You will adhere to guidelines for modeling approaches, software documentation, and best practices as established by the department and at times help to develop those guidelines* Provide mentorship to other engineers Minimum Qualifications: * BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering (Ops Research or Systems Engineering may be accepted)* 8 years of relevant experience* Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances Required Qualifications: * Expertise in Model-Based Systems Engineering principles and advanced programming.* Understanding of:* Modeling and Simulation* Software Development* Experience with SysML-based modeling and simulation tools including Cameo/MagicDraw and applying those tools to address real-world issues* Possess an active DoD secret clearance Preferred Qualifications: * Experience building standards into digital models* Experience using process engineering* Experience in advanced programming and debugging and formal software testing* Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.* Ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies to ever changing problems.* Systems Engineering Experience with integrating object-oriented languages such as Java, C and C++ with MBSE tools* Experience with SysML-based modeling and simulation tools including (or a subset of):* Systems Tool Kit (STK)* AFSIM or a DoD mission/engagement level simulation* OPNET, NS3 or another network simulation* Rational Rhapsody* Enterprise Architect* Military experience in Air Force operations and/or tactical level operations* Desired: MS Computer Science or Computer Engineering This requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of the following clearance(s): Secret This requisition requires the hired candidate to have or obtain, within one year from the date of hire, the following clearance(s): Secret MITRE requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
