Phillips Hospital Emergency Room (ER) is a 44-bed unit that provides emergency services 24 hours a day. We serve the residents of Southwest Orange County and Orlando''s growing tourist population. In addition to a highly qualified team of nurses, support staff and physicians, Dr. P. Phillips Hospital is equipped with the latest technology in diagnostic imaging, special rooms for trauma or cardiac patients, and a ''fast track'' side for minor emergencies.Position SummaryPerforms general patient care such as, hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and increased/constant observation in a basic role with the guidance and mentoring of the Registered Nurse.ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities• Provides routine treatments and interventions consistent with the educational level and skills learned in the academic environment and demonstrated competency through Orlando Health.• Performs advanced skills after achievement of demonstrated competencies such as: nasogastric tube irrigation, suctioning, and removal; wound irrigation; complex dressing change without packing of wounds; maintenance of enteral tube feeding (Dobhoff, Nasogastric, and Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy); and tracheostomy care.• Performs increase or continuous visual observation for Baker Act, behavioral health and suicide risk patients as assigned.• Assists patients with hygiene, mobility, and nutritional needs.• Maintains safety and security of patients, families, self, and other members of the healthcare team.• Utilizes the Safe Patient Room Environment Checklist with change of staff or transfer of care as part of handoff for Baker Act, behavioral health, and suicide risk patients.• Assures patient privacy, rights, and confidentiality.• Follows standard precautions. Adheres to Hand Hygiene and PPE procedures.• Communicates appropriate information regarding the patient''s condition to the registered nurse (RN) and other members of the healthcare team.• Participates in handoff report and purposeful hourly rounding on patients.• Documents information according to Orlando Health specific policies and guidelines.• Transports and assists patientsthrough the admission and discharge process. Transports Baker Act, behavioral health and suicide risk patients to diagnostic testing and procedures.• Maintains a safe and clean environment.• Provides exceptional service and or care to all patients, families, customers, and team members.• Transports and delivers items, equipment, blood products and medications (excluding substances and IV chemotherapy drugs) throughout the facility.• Receives and processes incoming calls, patient calls and guest requests.• May have limited access to areas storing medications.• Provides exceptional service and or care to all patients, families, customers, and team members.• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.QualificationsQualificationsEducation/TrainingAssociate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)Licensure/CertificationMust obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) within six (6) months of placement in this job.Maintains current BLS/Healthcare provider certification.ExperienceNone
