Description Job Summary: The Intermediate - Senior System Administrator (SA) will be leading the efforts on provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of server systems, hardware, and software related infrastructure. The SA will work with multiple Microsoft based domain environments. The Systems Administrator leads and is knowledgeable about various areas of asset management and software licenses. The SA will be accountable for Windows server and desktop systems. Must be able to work independently and/or on a team and be willing to interact with other group members and users at all levels of the organization. This technician performs non-routine and complex assignments involving responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project, selects and adapts plans, techniques, designs, or layouts, contacts personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate the work, reviews, analyzes, and integrates the technical work of others. Supervisor or professional engineer outlines objectives, requirements, and design approaches. Completed work is reviewed for technical adequacy and satisfaction of requirements. Expected to train and be assisted by lower level technicians. Must be capable of working alone with minimal assistance. Responsibilities: * Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization * Troubleshoot data transfer issues over WAN connections whether its software or network related. * Develop and maintain installation, configuration, and troubleshooting Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) * Configure, troubleshoot, and replace network infrastructure hardware to include Cisco switches, routers and firewalls * Understand and apply Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) on all software, network and server hardware in order to maintain Information Assurance compliance * Perform continuous maintenance and infrastructure tuning in order to optimize domain operations efficiency * Perform off-site support during Navy Combat Systems test events, to include on board Navy ships. Ship riding may be necessary. * Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary * Perform or delegate system scans for vulnerability identification and remediation * Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administrative task. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale * Provide tier II / other support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues * Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes * Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues * Strong interpersonal and communication skills, must be capable of explaining simple procedures in writing or verbally * Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure * Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures * Lead efforts to ensure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions * Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance * Analyzes technical data to determine applicability to design problems; selects from several possible design layouts; calculates design data; and prepares layouts, detailed specifications, parts lists, estimates, procedures, etc. * Designs, develops, and constructs major units, devices, or equipment; conducts tests or experiments; analyzes results and redesigns or modifies equipment to improve performance; and reports results * Plans or assists in planning tests to evaluate equipment performance. Determines test requirements, equipment modification, and test procedures; conducts tests using all types of instruments; analyzes and evaluates test results, and prepares reports on findings and recommendations Basic Qualifications: * DoD Secret Clearance required * CompTIA Sec+ (Must have prior to hiring) ? Experience managing Windows Server Active Directory * Experience managing Windows Server Group Policies * Understanding of server architecture, applications and security * VMWare experience required ? Troubleshooting system and user problems * Experience with DoD Cyber Security (CS) policies and tools * Knowledge of and understanding of basic networking like DHCP, TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, SNMP, IP addresses, and User Profiles * Ability to lift 35+ pounds * Must be able to accommodate 25% travel Preferred Qualifications: * Bachelor or Master''s degree in an Information Technology related field * MCSA Windows Server 2016 - 2019 * Cisco CCENT/CCNA, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Server * McAfee Host Based Security Systems (HBSS) * Experience with DoD Cyber Security (CS) policies and tools * Demonstrate Strong interpersonal and communication skills * 6+ years Network Administration, or system administration experience * System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields * Demonstrate the ability to follow instructions * Must be able to accommodate 15 - 25% travel * PowerShell scripting * Hyper-V or VSphere experience Company Summary: Join the VSolvit Team!
