Overview i3 is seeking a Senior Software Engineer/Architect to provide direct contract support to the Department of Defense (DoD). The duty location is Tampa, Florida. The IAE is seeking a highly motivated candidate to fill a unique role as the Senior Software Engineer and Systems Architect. The Senior Software Engineer/Architect will report directly to the DoD Program Manager and will advise on all technical aspects for engineering programs providing command, control, geospatial, and military intelligence capabilities. The Senior Software Engineer/Architect will manage the technical collaborative efforts internal to the Program Manager Mission Support Systems portfolio and will focus on the integration of the Distributed Common Ground/Surface intelligence portfolio; geospatial 2D/3D modeling and simulation portfolio; developing mission command systems/common operating picture capability into a singular enterprise end-to-end mission support capability for DoD. The Senior Software Engineer/Architect will have the ability and experience to engage with stakeholders, design complex software systems, and manage a portfolio of technical projects being developed. These projects include enterprise server virtualization, cloud computing, artificial intelligence/machine learning, data analytics, data management and storage, full motion video, all source fusion, signal intelligence activities, and the associated hardware expertise needed to manage and deploy these capabilities. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a security clearance and a non-disclosure agreement. A Secret clearance is mandatory with the ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance Responsibilities The Senior Software Engineer/Architect is a leadership and design role responsible for system design, oversite of software/system development projects, planning system test, and developing strategies for deploying enterprise-wide software applications and systems. Specific responsibilities include: * Providing guidance and direction to all the PM portfolio engineers for the design, development, integration, testing, and sustainment of software and hardware systems. * Working with leadership to plan, conduct, coordinate, and advise on system verification and validation strategies for programs of broad scope and complexity involving DoD network enterprise service issues and the Defense Intelligence and Security Enterprise. * Designing frameworks for the specification of DCGS, geospatial, and mission command components, the network architecture, and its functional organization, configuration, and the associated data formats used in the enterprise network. * Documenting software and systems architectural designs and related technical documentation. * Assess compliance within DoD procedural standards, systems, architectures, analyze capabilities, and identify gaps, problems, and issues. * Advising leadership on agile software engineering processes, best practices, and providing guidance and leadership in the adoption of frameworks and practices to improve software quality and ensure timely delivery of systems and applications. * Working with stakeholders to resolve problems impacting projects that extend across the breadth of the PM portfolio of projects. Qualifications * This position requires a bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and at least four years of experience in software project management and software system design. Candidates should have recent experience in software development. Additional years of experience may be substituted for degree. * Experience designing architectures for complex, distributed software systems and enterprise-wide networked applications with modern cloud-based technologies such as Azure, AWS, and hybrid (cloud/organic) environments and virtualization technologies. * Experience with the entire software development lifecycle and in-depth experience in an agile software development environment using modern agile frameworks such as Scrum, SAFe, Kanban, and so forth. * Experience as a software project manager and/or as a product owner leading software development teams, projects, and organizations. * Recent experience as a software developer in one or more higher level computer languages (e g. Python, Java, C/C++) and able to communicate and advise various stakeholders on detailed software technologies and technical strategies. * Ability to design and coordinate complex integration and deployment strategies across the organization''s product and technology portfolio, including 3rd party technical stacks. * Broad understanding of software application and enterprise level security mechanisms and best practices. * Excellent communication skills and able to work with diverse teams of engineers to include experience in writing and reviewing technical documentation to include technical proposals, requirements, designs, test plans, and so forth. * Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills. * Must be eligible for a TS/SCI security clearance. PREFERRED: * An advanced degree and 6 or more years of experience. Preferred skills and experience include: * Experience with software and systems development projects in a Department of Defense context to include knowledge and experience working with Department of Defense contracts and the contracting process. * Broad understanding of machine learning principles, practices, tools, frameworks, and strategies used to develop intelligent applications and systems. * Certification in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). * A current TS/SCI security clearance.
