This position will perform x-ray testing including body mechanics and patient movement using knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Operates diagnostic equipment, develops film and prepares the room with the necessary equipment and supplies for the procedure. Qualified candidate demonstrates courtesy and helpfulness toward patients and their families. This position will be approximately 20 hours per week which may include a weekend and evening rotation. Weekend shifts offer $5.00 per hour differential pay.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:Operates or oversee operation of radiologic or magnetic imaging equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposesPositions patient on examining table and set up and adjust equipment to obtain optimum view of specific body area as requested by physicianUses radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety of patients and staffDetermines patients''s x-ray needs by reading requests or instructions from physiciansPrepares examination rooms, ensuring that all necessary equipment is ready; escorting patients from the main lobby to x-ray department; take thorough and accurate patient medical histories and monitor patient''s; conditions and reactions, reporting abnormal signs to physicianExplains the procedure and exam to patients and ensure patients are exposed to limit amounts of radiation while keeping the patient''s safety in mindPositions imaging equipment and adjust controls to set exposure time and distance, according to specification of examination; take radiographic x-ray images for patientsReviews and evaluate developed x-rays, video tape, or computer-generated information to determine ifimages are satisfactory for diagnostic purposesSends the x-ray images to the provider and to outside facilities if necessary, burn images and upload from and to PAC''s systemDocuments the procedures that were performed to obtain an x-ray image; Print the next day x-ray order ticketsProvides assistance to physicians or other technologists in the performance of more complex procedures as neededCompletes quality control activities, monitor equipment operation, and report malfunctioning equipment to supervisor or service departmentPerforms general administrative tasks, such as answering phones, scheduling patient appointments, or pulling and filing filmsAssists with on-the-job training of new employees or students or provide input to supervisors regardingtraining performanceCompetencies:Technical Expertise: Applies knowledge of professional medical practice, regulations, and organizational policy to provide quality, patient focused care within scope of role, build relationships withcare team, patient and families, and maintain a safe working environmentPatient Focus: Provides care that is respectful of, and responsive to, individual patient preferences, needsand values; listening, informing, and involving patients in their careComprehension: Understands and applies detailed instructions and factual information in oral, written and/or diagram formJudgment: Acts with the patient''s best interest making timely and informed decisions in complex situations; accepts responsibility to maintain patient confidentialityPlanning and Organizing: Manages a high volume of tasks at one time, prioritizing workload while maintaining a high level of attention to detailInitiative / Independence: Works independently with little needed direction taking responsibility for own time and effectiveness.
