Pattern Energy Groups corporate headquarters is in San Francisco.ResponsibilitiesJob PurposeProvide technical support of development activities and project management of the engineering and construction of HVDC facilities associated with enabling renewable energy generation facilities across the United States, with support to other markets as necessary. Provide due diligence, management and oversight of all project engineering, construction, and commissioning related documents, contracts, and field work. Key AccountabilitiesThe key responsibilities will include as a minimum the following in support of renewable projects: Provide technical due diligence and budget review of HVDC Converter Stations and associated infrastructure during project development and execution phases. Review engineering, construction, and commissioning documents for completeness and compliance with utility interconnect agreements, power purchase agreements, land lease agreements, environmental permits, and good industry standard practice. Responsible for high level technical aspects of project including high-level technical decisions. Manage and oversee/monitor contractors, consultants and their deliverables and lead resolution of disputes and/or improvement opportunities as required to meet project needs. Work with Patterns preconstruction and development groups in the development, solicitation, bid evaluation, contract review, and award of EPC services contracts for various projects. Provide Interface Management support to ensure division of responsibility is coordinated between various internal and external stakeholders. Ensures schedule and delivery provisions of major equipment agreements are compatible with project needs and EPC contract documents. Execute the construction of the projects; be accountable for the safety, quality, cost, and schedule of the project. Serve as a lead negotiator for scope and schedule specifics of the project. Ensure documents and drawings required by operations, interconnect, power purchase agreements, and other project stakeholders are provided in a timely manner. Participate in the management of Owners Engineer associated with the technical engineering support, particularly relating to the design and performance of the HVDC system. Liaison with Independent Engineers review of active construction projects. Ensure timely approval of design documents and resolves technical issues relating to project design. Review and comment on Independent Engineers due diligence reports for active construction projects as well as development opportunities. Review EPC Contractor Weekly/Monthly Progress Reports and associated Work Schedules. Attend Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of key HVDC equipment, i.e. transformers, converter valves, control & protection, etc. Lead NERC CIP Compliance of HVDC Converter Stations for cybersecurity protection and security risks.Provide project interface with Pattern management and construction lenders. Furnish weekly and monthly reports and status updates as required. QualificationsExperience/Qualifications/EducationEducation and Experience Ten to Fifteen years progressive responsible experience in the power industry with significant experience managing on behalf of owner, the design and construction of HVDC Converter Stations, high voltage transmission and substation projects. Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, with Professional Engineer designation. Project Management Professional considered an asset. Demonstrated ability to successfully deliver multi-million-dollar high voltage construction projects safely and on schedule and within budget. Direct field management experience highly desirable. Additional Requirements Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to prioritize and resolve multiple issues on multiple projects under demanding schedule constraints. Through understanding of construction contact concepts, language and terms. Knowledge of basic engineering concepts. Familiarity with wind project access roads, wind turbine foundations, transmission and distribution equipment, overhead and underground cable installation, reactive power compensation equipment, and SCADA systems helpful.Technical Skills Facility with typical computer software (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
