Come grow with us and find out why so many of our employees recommend us as a great place to work.This opportunity is based out of our corporate office in Salt Lake City, UT, with the option for remote work available.ResponsibilitiesThe Director, UX Design will lead and manage a team of UX designers to create best-in-class experiences for Extra Space''s e-commerce website and internal call center application, both used to drive rentals for retail locations across the country. In addition, this role will oversee a suite of digital products that customers interact with during their customer journey.Responsible for building out a UX vision, strategy and team, taking it from its infancy to a more mature state and to a place where UX becomes a major force in driving conversion rates and speed to execution across all digital products.Collaborate with creative project manager and team for reporting, team assignments, status and updatesWork closely with team leaders in marketing, product, creative, engineering, other key stakeholders on a variety of projects in a fast-paced environment.Lead the product design process and work closely with leadership across the customer-facing website and digital products team, to create world class experiences and achieve business goalsLead, motivate, and inspire UX team members, ensuring that all members are completing work on time and delivering a high quality, well researched productManage team resourcing, ensuring designers are paired with projects that play to their strengths, challenge them, and allow for growthMentor designers toward top performance and help them track toward long-term career goalsEnhance user experience by creating seamless navigation through various digital programs and products within the companyUnderstand product specifications and user psychologyManage concept and usability testing and gather feedbackKeep abreast of competitor products and industry trendsMeet with key leaders and stakeholders to understand business goals, target audience, consumer journeys and other factors that will impact that user experience approach; Use qualitative and quantitative data to inform designs and solutions (e.g. web metrics, a/b test results, third party research, consumer profiles, etc.)Lead design critiques, encourage diversity of ideas, and foster a healthy collaborative team culture; Lead the exploration of new, innovative design solutions and patterns; Become experts in creating consumer journeysQualifications:10+ years of demonstrated experience in creating and implementing UX/UI design for web and mobile/app design (native Android/iOS app)3+ years leading UX design teams and implementing design processesProven work experience as a UI/UX Designer or similar roleStrong portfolio of design projectsBackground in project management and researchFamiliarity with interaction design and information architectureProficient in design software (e.g. Figma, Balsamiq, InVision, Zeplin)BS in Design, Computer Science, Engineering or a related fieldProficient with visual design programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and othersAbility to work effectively in a collaborative environment to create top-performing interfaces for clientsExperience with coding and ability to troubleshoot using HTML, CSS, Java Script and comparable languages is a plusContinued education and research into UX/UI trends and current design strategy and technologiesProfessional written and interpersonal skills when communicating with customers and clientsAbility to prioritize and manage several milestones and projects efficientlyAccount for challenges using problem-solving skills and seek to optimize data for the best possible outcomeExperience creating storyboards and website mappingUnderstanding of Apple''s human interface design guidelines, Android design and other mobile platform designs, including Google''s material designWe are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.
