Join our family at the fully accredited University of Iowa Student Health clinic and work in a lively, interesting, and multicultural college health environment! Student Health provides a wide variety of healthcare services for UI students, including care for acute and chronic illnesses and injuries, well-exams and physicals, mental health services and immunizations. You will have lots of patient interaction and work with a great team of medical doctors, physician assistants, and registered nurses. About Student Health: As a member of the nursing staff, Medical Assistants at Student Health do intakes for clinic visits (vital signs, weights, oximetry, etc.) and assist the provider with all other aspects of care during the visit. You will become skilled at venipuncture, administering vaccines and medications, collecting lab samples and assisting with minor procedures. With additional training, you can perform laboratory specimen processing and other duties while working in our on-site laboratory. The DSL is comprised of staff that embrace new ideas and thoughts, work together to keep students safe, and provides them with life-changing experiences. The DSL includes 14 departments that span from Recreation Services to the Office of Leadership, Service and Civic Engagement and everything in between. We believe in working together as one team to achieve our mission: fostering student success by creating and promoting inclusive educationally purposeful services and activities within and beyond the classroom. One of our division priorities is to advance UI''s goals to recruit and retain US racial/ethnic minority staff and students.Schedule: Don''t feel like working evenings, weekends, holidays or getting floated to other clinics? Student Health is the place for you. Your hours will generally be Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. We are very busy during the academic year- your workdays will fly by- but during academic breaks we can be a little slower, allowing for project time, collaboration and training. Location: The main clinic is in the Westlawn Building on the west UI campus. There is a small satellite clinic in the Iowa Memorial Union that functions during the academic year. One of our division priorities is to advance UI''s goals to recruit and retain U.S. racial/ethnic minority (URM) staff and students.Minimum Eligibility Requirements:Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant or completion of a recognized one year Medical Assistant ProgramORCompletion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program, including but not limited to: pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology and medication administration including dose calculation, and psychology.Desirable Qualifications:Completion of a Medical Assistant program accredited by ABHES or CAAHEP, gradudation from a college with insititutional accreditation by regional or national accrediting agency approved by the U.S. Department of Education, or LPN licensure. Some experience working in a medical assistant role, nursing assistant role, or similar.
