$15,000 SIGN ON BONUSPURPOSE OF JOB:To plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the Nursing Service Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern the facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator and the Medical Director, to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is always maintained.JOB FUNCTIONS: Every effort has been made to identify the essential functions of this position. The omission of specific statement of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or is an essential function of the anize and direct nursing administration, nursing services, and resident care developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Service Department, its programs, and activities.Maintains clear lines of authority and responsibility with the development of nursing services.Participate in developing, maintaining, and periodically updating written nursing policies, procedures, reference materials, manuals, objections, and philosophiesMake recommendations to facility QI Committee for facility policy and procedure, development, and revisions. Take drafts to DON meeting for approvalEnsure that the nursing services manuals are always current and reflect the day-to-day operations and procedures at the facility Assist in developing and implementing methods for coordinating nursing services with other resident servicesWork with QI Committee to develop & implement plans of action to correct deficiencies Send drafts of all Plan of Correction to correct deficiencies to the Director of Clinical Service for approval prior to submission to regulatory agenciesComplete incident reports and follow up on reports. Reporting to the corporate Director of Clinical Services as requiredComplete medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charts, etc., ensure that all nursing services personnel are performing their respective dutiesParticipate in developing, implementing, and maintaining a quality assurance programAssist in developing and implementing a nursing services organization structureAssist in planning, developing, implementing, and maintaining resident discharge procedures and plans.Responsible for reports for monthly P&L meetings (e.g., P&L QI report, State QI report & QA Meeting Minutes)Participate in surveys and inspections by government agencies; and make reports and recommendations to the Administrator concerning operations of the departmentParticipates in department head and nursing department meetingsAssumes the duties of the Administrator in his/her absenceMake written and oral reports/recommendations to the Administrator, as necessary/required, concerning the operation of the nursing service departmentDevelop, maintain, and periodically update written job descriptions for each level of nursing personnel obtaining required approval prior to implementationKnowledge of company goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and federal, state, and local regulationsUtilizes company policies and procedures, job descriptions, quality assurance surveys, regulations, etc., to identify, plan, implement, and assist in evaluations of experiencesInterpret the departments policies and procedures to personnel, resident, families, visitors, and government agencies as necessaryAssure adequate 24-hour nursing coverage in facility each dayDetermine the staffing needs of the nursing services department necessary to meet the total nursing needs of the residentsPROFESSIONAL CONDUCT:The ability to comply with departmental dress code.Must prominently wear one''s ID card and provide one''s name upon request.The ability to maintain normal, reasonable levels of personal hygiene and professional appearance.The ability to uphold the highest standards of ethics, integrity, and honesty in matters of conduct and behavior as it pertains to work performance, position, and profession.The ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters concerning residents as well as assigned computer/software and work product.Must possess the ability to coexist harmoniously with co-workers, subordinates, supervisors and/or anyone within the facility, and to do so with courtesy, respect, and ultimate cooperation.TIME AND ATTENDANCE:Must possess the ability to consistently come to work regularly.Must possess the ability to consistently come to work on time.Must possess the ability to adhere to time recording policy (clocking in and out as required).Must possess the ability to adhere to meal/break policy/schedules.Responsiveness to being called/paged while on duty.Willingness to work overtime when requested.WORK PRODUCTIVITY:Overall work performance and productivity as it relates to the plete all assigned tasks thoroughly and in a timely manner.Demonstrate initiative by independently seeking additional responsibilities apart and above those regularly assigned.Readily and willingly accept new assignments and responsibilities as may become necessary or as directed by Department Head or designee.JOB APTITUDE:Demonstrate the ability to utilize critical thinking skills and make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.Demonstrate willingness to acquire knowledge and skills to maintain established competency levels and professional standards of practice.Utilize effective time management and organizational skills.The ability to work under stress and to meet deadlines.The ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.The ability to identify issues/conflicts and problem solve.The ability to follow and give directions clearly.JOB COMPETENCY:Prior experience/exposure in health care setting required.Excellent organization and oral and written communication skills.Must be able to work under pressure, handle stressful situations and emergencies, interact with other departments, and can prioritize.Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.The ability to deal effectively and professionally with emotional residents, visitors, and family members.The ability to relate to geriatric, infirm, and sub-acute Franklin population.SETTING:Performs duties throughout the facility.Must be able to sit, stand and walk.Must be able to climb, stretch, bend and lift.Must be able to climb stairs in performance of duties or the event of fire.Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately, so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.Must be able to operate a computer or use prosthetics or devices that will enable such use.Is involved with residents/patients, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel etc. under all conditions and circumstances.Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset resident/patients, family members, personnel, and visitors.Is subject to stay or call back during emergency condition (such as, but not limited to, severe weather, utilities failure, evacuation, disasters, etc.)Very competetive wages, great benefits, and a sign-on bonus!
