Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited school of nursingLicensed as a practical nurse in the state of Minnesota1-2 years of nursing experience in a long-term care facility and/or Assisted LivingExperience with supervision of unlicensed personnel Current knowledge of state and federal regulationsExcellent oral and written communications skillsAbility to prioritize tasksSkills in problem definition and resolutionAbility to focus all efforts on quality resident careMust be eligible to work in the Federal Health Program Job Summary: The successful performance of this job requires meeting high standards in the areas of providing nursing care, complying with state and federal regulations, and supervising staff. "Person-in-charge" Supervisory Tasks (when necessary) Makes known the "person-in-charge" designation per communication process.Directs staff activities during emergency situations in accordance with facility policies/procedures per Executive Director and Nursing Director.Assists with monitoring building security.Monitors staff as municates pertinent information orally or in writing to appropriate personnel. Accepts responsibility to triage emergency calls from direct care staff and alert RN as needed.Takes and follows up as able on family concerns/questions. Nursing Department Tasks Performs duties as assigned by the Executive Director, Nursing Director (DON) or Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON).Ensures that all staff assignments are covered on each shift and participates in direct care when necessary.When necessary, assist with medication administration and follow Parks'' Place policy.Uses 24-hour report to provide daily status updates to oncoming staff.Assures resident plan of care and services are implemented as municates concerns to the physician, family, or appropriate resources as necessary.Participates in necessary revision of resident plan of care and/or audit of completeness/outcome of resident plan of care.Monitors facility policies, procedures, and quality improvement standards.Monitors all resident incident/accidents related to safety, infection control and patient care policies and assures their completeness.Audits medication carts for reordering, medication compliance, and correct accounting.Participates in admission process, assures completeness of admission orders.Participates in discharge planning process.Follows through on facility procedures upon the death of a resident.Orders necessary lab, x-ray, transportation, and other resident services.Implements nursing orders when appropriate.Ensures that adequate supplies, medications, and equipment are always on site.Participates in direct resident care when pletes required reports on resident care.Participates in in-house transfer or transfer to another facility as necessary.Demonstrates knowledge of safety procedures and disaster plans.Demonstrates knowledge of and enforces state and federal regulations.Gives frequent safety instructions to vestigates thoroughly both accidents and vestigates and reports immediately to Executive Director or Nursing Director any suspected abuse or neglect of resident.Identifies/corrects unsafe acts and hazards.Participates in the completion of medical record documents as necessary. Staff Supervisory Tasks Monitors performance and report to Nursing Director or Executive Director.Utilizes appropriate disciplinary procedures in counseling staff, as directed by Executive Director or Nursing Director.Serves as resource person for interdepartmental issues/concerns.Participates/monitors staff attendance at required/mandatory in-services.Identifies educational needs to Nursing Director.Promotes positive employee relations.Promotes positive family interactions and relations.Monitors nursing personnel on duty during the assigned shift. Administrative Tasks Prepares for and works with state and federal inspectors.Participates in facility committees as directed.Participates in in-service training sessions and professional continuing education programs.Adheres to Parks'' Place policies on infection control, safety, and resident rights.Performs other tasks as directed.
