Piedmont Cancer Institute Oncology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Opportunity Outpatient Opportunity Full-Time | Mon-Fri Fayetteville: GAAbout the Practice and their Mission Piedmont Cancer Institute is seeking an Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our extensive, well-established multi-specialty physician group practice in Fayetteville, GA. We are committed to treating each patient with comprehensive strategies with leading-edge cancer therapies in Hematology and Medical Oncology.Our Medical Oncologists & Hematologists specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancers and blood disorders that tailor an individualized treatment plan based on the patient''s specific needs and the most current medical knowledge and treatment available. The practice offers Hematology/Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Palliative Care, and Clinical trial& Research Programs. Piedmont Cancer Institute is a proud partner of OneOncology. OneOncology''s non-exclusive clinical trial site management subsidiary, OneR, delivers complex, multi-center clinical trials to affiliated practices.About the Role The Advanced Practice Provider is responsible for the evaluation and treatment of patients with hematology and oncology conditions. The Advanced Practice Provider works within the construct of a multidisciplinary patient care team under the direction of a physician. He or she works with additional clinical and support staff to ensure safe, effective, quality person-centered care.Minimum Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician''s Assistant Program Active certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician''s Assistant Active Georgia licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician''s Assistant Basic Life Support Certification Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification Summary of Duties Provides all care in accordance with state and federal law as well as PCI policies, standards of practice, and prescribed workflows. In collaboration with a physician: a. Conducts patient interviews and physical evaluations to evaluate and treat new and existing patients. Orders and/or performs laboratory tests. Order and/or performs diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures and testing. Collects and interprets diagnostic data. Diagnoses medical problems, develops care plans, and prescribes treatments. Arranges for consultations with or referrals to other medical professionals or community services. Educates patient on health habits, self-examinations, behavior management, need for follow-up assessments/treatments, at-home medical care, medication, and other issues related to medical or health problems. Utilizing available software, documents patient histories, assessments, interventions, and interactions. Provides psycho-social and emotional support to patients and care partners. Recognizes the roles of the interdisciplinary team, patient, and family care partners and utilizes them appropriately as resources in planning patient care. Provides clinical information to the Revenue Cycle Management Department as requested for the purposes of claims and authorizations. Participates in prescribed research training exercises to develop a proficient understanding of clinical trials. Applies knowledge gained to execute tasks and provide care as prescribed by the trial. Communicates effectively with patients, care partners, members of the healthcare team, and third-party agents or organizations. Serves as a resource to colleagues and as a preceptor to new employees as directed by organizational leadership. Maintains a safe, clean work environment. Manages time effectively and delegates responsibility as appropriate. Utilizes resources in a responsible manner with a focus on cost containment. Accepts personal responsibility for professional development and Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments. Respects and maintains confidential Demonstrates proficiency in HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) concepts. Attends prescribed classes and training as required by the organization and the clinical department. Participates in organizational committees and task forces. Performs related work as directed by the organization''s management team. Physical Requirements Frequent standing and walking. Periods of prolonged sitting. Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing) and fine motor skills. Physical demands may vary depending on the assigned work area and work tasks. Typical Working Conditions Environmental exposures include but are not limited to Blood-borne pathogen exposure; Bio- hazardous waste,Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors; Communicable diseases; Electrical shock; Floor Surfaces; Hot/Cold Temperatures; Indoor/Outdoor conditions; Latex; Lighting; Patient care/handling injuries. Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators. Environmental conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and work tasks.
