6739 Great Full time opportunity for a Director, Plant Operation and Maintenance in Northern California. Benefits: 403b, med, dental, vision, annual bonus Day-to-day Priorities: Survey preparedness: Cleaning up and preparing and capable of putting processes and plans into place. Will need experienced with healthcare and TJC to do well in this area and understand the needs. Will oversee vendors and need to be fiduciarily responsible on supplies, contracts, vendors etc. Will have discretion at making these recommendations and decisions. Need to come up with an environmental care plan for the hospital and its implementation. Will be the point person on this and need to take this responsibility off the COO''s plate. This will include plans etc. for areas such as fire drills, emergency preparedness etc. POSITION SUMMARY: Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Administration and maintenance of buildings, grounds and equipment, and the procurement of utilities and their distribution systems. Supervises and coordinates activities of the Operations and Maintenance Department. Incumbent is guided by thorough knowledge of plant operations and maintenance methods, techniques, procedures, principles of engineering, applicable governmental codes and regulations, and operation and use of departmental equipment and supplies, knowledge of principles of management and procedures and policies of the department and facility. Must be able to perform jobs in all patient care and operational areas subject to reasonable accommodations. Must participate in the Respiratory Protection Program, which may include the wearing of a respirator. Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment. This is a non-union position. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor''s degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience, or other completion of advance courses related to management skills and to engineering and the functions of the department required. Experience: 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Management or supervisor experience preferred. Licenses/Certificates: None Requirements: Sexual Harassment training must be completed within 6 months of hire or promotion, and every year thereafter. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Administrative Duties: Reviews and evaluates existing methods, systems, programs, practices and procedures; develops and recommends change to the COO; implements or guides implementation of new and/or modified methods, systems, programs, practices and/or procedures. Participates actively in the Environment of Care Programs Responsible for chairing the Facilities Management Subcommittee of the Environment of Care Committee; guides and directs compliance activities for Fire/Life Safety, Utilities and Construction/Renovation standards. Department Duties: Plans, organizes and controls activities of maintenance department and outside contractors/vendors to keep staff and other personnel engaged in maintaining, repairing and renovating hospital''s plant, facilities and premises Responsible for having knowledge in building occupancy type(s) and Life Safety Code requirements to properly assess and maintain ''Statement of Conditions'' documents; maintains working knowledge of all mechanical, electrical and auxiliary functions; maintains expertise through training, reading, conferences, and use of outside experts. Assists with preparation and maintains a variety of departmental records in compliance with California law and regulations, The Joint Commission standards, Department of Public Health requirements, local county/city authorities, and other regulatory agencies. Maintains adequate inventory of materials, equipment and supplies and initiates requisitions as needed. Responsible for the review/establishment of written specifications for corrective maintenance and minor construction and renovation projects; oversees initiation, course of work and closeout of projects. Assists with coordination of construction and renovation programs for facilities and grounds performed by outside contractors; participates in project planning, architect review and management meetings over the course of projects. Monitors and coordinates preventive maintenance, building and property repair and improvement projects performed by vendors and contractors, inspects completed work and approves requests for payment regarding same. Establishes and oversees maintenance of the computerized maintenance management system and other processes necessary for the effective and efficient operation of the department. Investigates, resolves and documents incidents and complaints as required; reports and seeks guidance from the COO and other management staff, as necessary. Responsible for intervention whenever conditions pose an immediate threat to life or health, or threaten damage to equipment or buildings. Responsible for the creation, revision, and implementation of departmental and institutional policies/procedures for services provided by the department Responsible for Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Program of the department. Responsible for the creation, revision coordination and implementation of facilities fire response plans and other emergency plans with the assistance of the Safety Officer. Supervisory Duties: Plans and distributes work to staff; maintains flow and quality of work to assure timely completion of assigned workload and adherence to standards of quality assurance. Monitors and verifies staffs work to assure performance standards are maintained and facilities equipment is maintained and operated effectively, efficiently, reliably and safely. Establishes and coordinates staff work schedules to assure necessary coverage; manages staff time off (paid or unpaid) including vacation/holidays, leaves of absence, etc. Orients and trains new staff and provides continuing guidance and on-the-job training to all assigned personnel; holds staff accountable for adherence to policy, procedure, process or quality of work standards. Interviews applicants and hires qualified individuals. Prepares performance evaluations for assigned personnel, as well as rendering disciplinary action when necessary. Human Resources/Performance Improvement / Information Management Maintains awareness and participates in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) to ensure a safe patient environment. Attends and actively participates in team conferences and staff meetings, as assigned. Participates actively in orientation of new employees and on-the-job training of assigned personnel, as assigned. Adheres to all policies and procedures including but not limited to, the hospital Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, safety rules, Joint Commission standards, California Department of Public Health (CDPH) regulations and any other regulatory agency. Provides methodology for dissemination of information providing opportunities for discussions of division problems, and orientation of new projects or procedures, as assigned. Performs all tasks demonstrating service excellence to both staff and customers. Demonstrates, supports, and models the mission, vision, values and code of conduct. Communicates appropriately and effectively to support the department mission.
