Summary of Duties Responsible forassisting the Director of Nursing Services/Clinical Services Administrator inplanning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation ofNursing Services for residents in accordance with current federal, state andlocal standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern the facility and asmay be directed by the Director of Nursing Services/Clinical ServicesAdministrator to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintainedat all times. Essential Job Functions1. Assistin the planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, anddirecting the nursing service department, as well as its programs andactivities, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines thatgovern the long-term care facility. 2. Recommendto Quality Assistance Performance Improvement (QAPI) Committee and implementsapproved policies and procedures that govern the day- to-day functions of thenursing service department. 3. Makewritten and oral reports and recommendations to the Director of NursingServices/Clinical Services Administrator, as necessary/required concerning theoperation of the nursing department. 4. Assistswith the development, implementation and monitoring of the Infection ControlProgram to include policy development, surveillance, tracking and trending andreporting outbreaks and other communicable diseases to public health and otherregulatory agencies as required 5. Assistin recruitment, selection, and placement of qualified personnel. 6. Completeadmission assessments as needed. 7. Assistnursing supervisory staff in completing and performing tasks as needed. 8. Assistin developing competency criteria for the resident care service employees. 9. Assistin developing, implementing, and maintaining an effective orientation programthat orients the new employee to Nursing Services policies and procedures andto his/her job position and duties. 10. Assistand evaluate staff performance and effects changes as necessary. Complete 90 day and annual performanceevaluations in a timely manner to include descriptive and objective performanceinformation. 11. Assistin developing methods for coordination of nursing services with other residentservices to ensure the continuity of the residents'' total regimen of care. 12. Assistin developing, implementing, and maintaining an ongoing Quality Assurance PerformanceImprovement (QAPI) Program. 13. Assist indeveloping, implementing, and periodically updating the written procedures fordischarge planning. 14. Performadministrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations,studies, charting, etc., as necessary. 15. Assistin developing and maintaining a working schedule for the nursing department. 16. Scheduledaily rounds on all shifts to observe residents and to determine if nursingneeds are being met in accordance with the residents'' requests. 17. Participatein the interviewing and selection of residents for admission to the facility,including screenings. 18. Makerounds with physicians as necessary. Schedule physician visits as necessary. 19. Monitormedication passes and treatment schedules to ensure that medications are beingadministered as ordered and that treatments are provided as scheduled withappropriate technique utilized. 20. Assistin developing and implementing procedures for the safe operation of all nursingservice equipment, including competency evaluation of staff. 21. Providedirect nursing care as necessary. 22. Performother duties and assume additional responsibilities as directed, includingspecial projects.Education and ExperienceGraduation from anaccredited School of Nursing and licensed as a Registered Nurse by theState of Alabama. Physical Requirements for Essential Job FunctionsMust be able to move about intermittently throughout the workdayMust be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the positionMust be able to reach, bend, and/or stoop intermittently throughout the work dayMust be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully metMust be able to push, pull, or move a minimum of 100 pounds utilizing proper body mechanics and assistanceMust be able to walk/stand 75% of the day
