Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) Opportunity with Long Island Plastic Surgical Group!All candidates MUST be willing to travel, if needed.All candidates MUST have flexibility to work nights and weekends, if needed.All candidates MUST have breast reconstruction experience.EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor''s DegreeGraduate of an accredited physician assistant training programCertified NYS Physician AssistantQUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:Must maintain a valid Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration and professional liability insurance in accordance with his/her employment agreementBecome and remain a provider in good standing in the Medicare and Medicaid programs.CPR, ACLS, BLSAbility to multi-task and work within a fast-paced environmentMaintain a sense of urgencyExtensive surgical procedure knowledgeAbility to perform wound care, suture, and drain removalAbility to perform minor surgical procedures without in-room supervisionAbility to perform consultations when the supervising physician is absentMaintain registration in good standing as an RPA, in accordance with NYS lawsApply, be awarded, and maintain in good standing, membership on the medical staff of each Facility with appropriate privileges at each Facility.RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO PERFORMING THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES:Perform patient care duties as directed by the supervising physicianMaintain open lines of communication with the supervising physician in regards to a patient''s medical history (or other information) during consultations, before/after surgery, and office visits.See pre-op and post-op patients; conduct all preoperative histories and physicals and provide the patient with any prescriptions they will need during the perioperative period; answer any pre/post-operative questions from patientsMeet with new and existing patients of the supervising physician during office hours; responsible for inpatient consults when supervising physician is unavailableCompletes, notes summaries, evaluations, and other medical records using EMR (Nextech)Utilize advanced assessment skills to anticipate complex patient problems specific to plastic surgeryPerform a variety of inpatient patient care activities, wound care, dressing changes, removal of drain and sutures, etc.Obtain patient''s medical and personal history; obtain signed consent forms and perform physical evaluations on patients; ensure data entered is complete, accurate, up-to-date, and communicated to supervising physician and other medical staff in an organized fashionProvide preoperative preparation for patients by completing surgery scheduling forms, obtaining signed consent forms, handing certification insurance concernsPerform postoperative follow-up assessments on patientsAssist supervising physician in the operating room with various tasks such as performing first assist in surgery (i.e. surgical procedures such as retraction, cutting suture, etc.); accompany and assist supervising physician at other hospitals, when necessaryMaintain and develop knowledge concerning new surgical techniques, while maintaining the skills of the Primary Care PAObserve and comply with all reasonable policies, rules and regulations of the practice and other facilitiesDoes this sound like you?
