This position is within the Air Force Division of SPA, and will fall under the Air Force Engineering and Analysis Group (AFEA) which provides analytic support to various programs across a diverse clientele that extends across the Joint Staff, HQ USAF, Air Combat Command, Air Force Material Command, and the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center. AFEA provides a wide range of analysis to include supporting resource allocation decisions, wargaming, targeting, courseware management, Integrated and Air Missile Defense, Program Office Support, and analysis of military operations and joint training assessments. SPA has an immediate need for a Propulsion Engineer. Responsibilities This Propulsion Engineer will: provide oversight on the Sentinel development contract through the review of technical and programmatic briefings and reports; independently develop analyses and assessments of solid rocket motor stage design and performance; review stage manufacturing processes, develop and provide briefings to Sentinel Program Office concerning the state of development for all solid rocket motor stages; and other special projects including supporting test events, analyzing test data, and conducting trades studies. This role requires effective interaction between counterparts at the Air Force customer, the Sentinel Prime Contractor, members of the Booster team, and other various Mission Partners and stakeholders. Qualifications Required Qualifications: * 3+ years of demonstrated experience in engineering or management support of defense systems, technology, or research and development activities.(7+ years or 5+ years with Master''s degree to qualify for Senior)* A Bachelor''s degree or higher in: Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field* Technical understanding of Solid Rocket Motor design, performance evaluation, or manufacture* An active US DoD Secret Security Clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance and all necessary special program accesses. The criteria for obtaining and maintaining a security clearance is set by the US Government. You must be a US Citizen.* Knowledge of product integration and interface management (involving mechanical subsystems) and ability to provide critical evaluation of designs with a focus on eventual program success Desired Qualifications: * Graduate degree(s) in related technical or programmatic fields and/or 10+ years of experience in Aerospace or Defense industry* Experience leading interdisciplinary teams* ICBM Weapon System experience* Propulsion performance modeling and analysis of solid rocket motor systems
