Job Description Job Title: IV&V GN&C Engineer ASRC Federal Systems Solutions (AFSS) is looking for an experienced and highly motivated engineer to perform guidance, navigation, and control independent verification and validation (IV&V) as well as systems engineering on launch service contractor (LSC) solutions. The San Bernardino Engineering Center hosts a multi-disciplinary team of propulsion, structures, fluid mechanics, software, controls, and avionics engineering staff. We support the Rocket System Launch Program Mission Assurance (RSLP MA) contract for the United States Space Force supporting a program that provides rapid access to space for many government clients. We work with various launch vehicle contractors throughout the country to perform systems engineering and IV&V of their launch vehicles. Roles and Responsibilities: * Review and verify system level and launch vehicle requirements* Perform analyses of launch vehicles to ensure mission requirements are met* Validate six-degree-of-freedom (6DOF) simulation models* Conduct non-linear 6DOF simulation analysis* Perform autopilot linear stability analysis* Assess launch vehicle navigation accuracy* Develop, modify, and maintain software tools that predict pre-flight performance under nominal, off-nominal, and Monte Carlo flight conditions* Perform post-flight verification of simulation predictions* Update models based on designs, test results, and other data* Support design reviews and milestones as necessary* Prepare presentations, reports, and other contract deliverables related to analyses performed* Present results of analyses to internal independent review team Requirements Minimum Qualifications: To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below: * Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics, or related program of study and 7 years of related experience (or a graduate degree and 5 years of related experience)* Experience in at least two of the following: requirements validation systems engineering, vehicle controls analysis, dynamic 6DOF modeling and simulation, launch vehicle modeling and analysis, and/or navigation systems* Experience with FORTRAN and/or C/C++ on Linux platforms* Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)* Must have demonstrated presentation skills and strong written and oral communication abilities* Position requires a proactive, self-starting, independent, flexible engineer with excellent interpersonal skills* Must be able to obtain DoD SECRET Security Clearance Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration: * Current DoD SECRET (or higher) Security Clearance* Understanding of missile engineering disciplines including guidance and controls, aerodynamics, propulsion, and structural dynamics* Experience with multi-payload satellite deployment including accuracy analysis and payload recontact/control* Knowledge of Earth gravitational and atmospheric models* Ability to write software source code to perform analysis* Experience in Linux scripting, makefiles, and Python* Experience in the use of structured process for software tool updates
