Description: Williamsburg Landing, the area''s only CARF-accredited life plan community, seeks a Full-Time Security Officer available Wednesday through Sunday for the evening shift (3:30 pm to 11:30 pm).The Security Officer, under the direction and supervision of the Security Manager, is responsible for controlling access to the property, reporting recognized security discrepancies, and issuing passes to those having authorized business with Williamsburg Landing. The Officer monitors and responds to alarms, maintains traffic control, investigates accidents, injuries and disturbances, and responds to resident needs and emergencies as required.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSCoordinates and participates in emergency situations, providing detailed documentation of activities during the shift and writes articulate incidents reports when applicableReports unsafe conditions discovered to the Security Manager and/or Sergeant to facilitate quick corrective actionResponds to drills, disasters, fire alarms, or other emergency incidents and provides necessary support and controlsMaintains a secure and reliable key/access control system in accordance with prescribed standards and proceduresMonitors and controls access to Williamsburg Landing property; assists visitors with a legitimate need to gain entry to property; screens visitors, contractors, vendors, suppliers, guests, and employees in an efficient manner to expedite admittance to propertyPatrols property and site buildings checking for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations, blocked ingress and egress, mechanical problems and unauthorized persons; inspects buildings and grounds on a defined schedule; periodically patrols propertyObserves and reports incidents or suspicious activity to management and/or public safety authorities as appropriate for the circumstancesPrepares logs, reports, and other documents as assignedResponds to general calls for service such as accessing locked buildings and providing escortsAssists others (residents, employees, contractors, visitors) during emergencies that may include providing emergency First Aid, CPR, AED, and manually lifting or transporting those in a compromised stateAssists in educating new and current employees on policies and proceduresTests and operates sites fire alarm system; Maintains first aid kits and suppliesParticipates in investigations; maintains records and prepares incident reports and other documents pertinent to security activities through manual and electronic methodsSecures and/or unlocks offices and facilities as requiredAssists in managing parking, traffic controls, and traffic flow; enforces parking regulationsErects and maintains barricades, signs, tape, or other devices to identify hazardous or restricted areasMaintains all equipment and supplies required in the provision of departmental services in optimal operational status with recommendation for procurement or replacement of equipment as neededMaintains positive interaction with residents, guests, and other Williamsburg Landing employeesAssumes on-call responsibility as assignedPerforms other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONSHigh School graduate or equivalent; current Commonwealth of Virginia Driver''s License required; one (1) year of relevant work experience preferred; prior law enforcement or military experience preferredKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESAbility to read and write clearly and legibly in English; ability to conduct investigative interviews; ability to compose accurate, descriptive narratives for standard reports; ability to speak clearly over telephone and hand-held radio; ability to work with CCTV, card access, fire alarms, and other detection systems; ability to maintain professionalism in difficult situations; ability to de-escalate tense verbal situations; ability to respond appropriately and calmly in an emergency; ability to use digital photography equipment proficiently; ability to climb stairs routinely during the course of work shift; ability to get in and out of a motor vehicle unassisted; ability to stand and walk for long periods of time; ability to hear and smell in order to identify potential life-safety hazards; ability to withstand exposure to the weather elements; ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds; ability to stoop, kneel, bend, and reach during the normal course of the dayLICENSE & TRAINING REQUIREMENTCurrent Commonwealth of Virginia driver''s license; completion of the Department Field Training Program within 30 days of hire; ability to obtain American Heart Association CPR, First Aid, Basic Life Support, & AED Certifications within six months of hire and maintain such certifications for the duration of employmentEmployees may be required to work overtime or variable shifts and be on call.BENEFITSWilliamsburg Landing offers a comprehensive benefits package for all Full-Time employees that includes:Health, Dental & Vision InsuranceFlexible Spending Account403(b) Retirement Plan529 College Savings PlanLong-Term Care InsuranceLegal ResourcesPaid Time OffHoliday PayCorporate Wellness ProgramHealth Club & Spa MembershipEmployee Education & Training FundEmployee Assistance ProgramCredit Union MembershipWilliamsburg Landing is a non-profit, independent community offering a vibrant lifestyle for residents.Apply online at .EOE/Tobacco Free/Drug Freepm20 Requirements: PI189596972
