Orthopedic Physician Assistant - Kaplan Joint Center

Under the supervision and direction of staff in the ArthroplastyService, and in accordance with the rules and regulations of Massachusettsgoverning Physician Assistant practice, the Physician Assistant (PA) will beresponsible for the care of patients in this practice. The PA will triage new patients,coordinate and perform preoperative assessments, act as first assist in theoperating room, coordinate treatment and assist in the management ofpostoperative care, and perform discharge planning coordination. The PA will obtain patient histories, performcomprehensive physical examinations to evaluate patients for surgery and forpost-surgical readmission, coordinate tests and consultations, implementtreatment plans, communicate with referring physicians, perform patienteducation, and prepare patients for discharge.Qualifications Graduate of an accredited American Medical Association-approved Physician Assistant training program. Must possess a license to practice as a Physician Assistant. A Master''s degree is required.Must be certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants within one year of hire; must maintain this certification by completing required 100 hours of Continuing Medical Education credits every two years. In addition PA must demonstrate continued competence by passing a re-certification exam every six years.Qualified in all basic and advanced cardiac life support standards as established by the American Heart Association.EEO Statement NWH is an EEO employer
