These test machines can be automated, semi- automated and/or manual. The testing equipment includes electronic, mechanical, electro mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and/or a combination of them as a system. Must possess knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics. Responsible for ensuring the production test equipment runs smoothly and prevents costly breakdowns or malfunctions. The test engineer will also be responsible for designing/building test stands as required to support production and create automated PLC and data acquisitions programs using commercially available software, such as LabView. In addition, must be able to effectively utilize troubleshooting and failure analysis to determine root cause of test equipment malfunctions while using engineering documents & applicable specifications.This individual is required to be self-motivated and will work with minimal supervision.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES FOR THIS JOB Effectively utilize troubleshooting and failure analysis tools to determine root cause of test equipment malfunctionsWrite testing instructions and provide detailed information and guidelines by accurately following the acceptance test procedure.Work on directions from the Test Engineering Manager to manage workload, coordinate with the maintenance and facilities crew to ensure appropriate support is allocated for on time completion of tasks. Write testing instructions and provide detailed information and guidelines by accurately following the acceptance test procedure.Work effectively with employees, co-workers, management, customers and others.Keep commitments; keep others informed of work progress, timetables and issues. Address problems and issues constructively to find mutually acceptable and practical solutions. Monitor and assure all processes/practices are in place and maintained to produce quality products that have complete part and assembly traceabilityProvide required training and auditing to assure that system transactions and data entry are processed accurately and in timely manner to support system integrity and product quality.Assure adherence to all FAA regulations.Promote continuous improvement to improve processes on an ongoing basis to reduce production time and product quality.Manage all resources (space, tools, instructions, training and materials) in order to support production/request in a cost-effective manner and within established budget.Prioritize daily workflow. Get involved when things are not working right and proactively take required action.PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS (What does the employee need to do to be successful?)Effectively utilize troubleshooting skills to solve plete assigned tasks on time and on budget on both current testing equipment as well as new adoptions.Generate and support active participations in process improvement (including CI, Kaizen, Employee Involvement, charts, etc)Implement and maintain method of tracking test equipment failures and provide proactive solutions to minimize costly delays.Maintain job tracking and reporting to achieve 98% accuracy.Assure policies and good business practices are followed and comply with company safety requirements.Build professional relations so production personnel are engaged and committed to the business''s success as demonstrated for continuous improvementQUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: BS Degree in Engineering or equivalent related experience desired.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: 5+ years'' experience in electronics, electromechanical, pneumatics and hydraulics field working with test stands in a production environment. Ability to read and understand blueprint specifications, schematics, and overhaul manuals.Knowledge of mechanical and electronic measurements instruments and equipment such as calipers, height gages, depth indicators, micrometers, power supplies, multimeters, pressure gages, flow meters, etc.Ability to work effectively in a strong team environment.Must have the ability to evaluate and resolve product, process problems.Must have strong verbal, written, organization and communication skills. Must have good working knowledge of outlook, excel and word.Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principals is highly desired.Must have strong troubleshooting and failure analysis skills.Hydraulics and Pneumatics, Principles and application,Electrical maintenance Including safety, DC fundamentals, DC circuit analysis, Solid state fundamentals, AC fundamentals, AC circuit analysis. Solid state controls, Basic digital fundamentals.Electrical motors to include: Shop safety, electrical motors fundamentals, electrical motors types, control, schematics,Heating and air conditioning fundamentals, cooling heat pump, electrical resistance heatMotor controls, Electromagnetic control of industrial motors.PLC controllers Basic of hydraulics and pneumatics.DATA Acquisition, Knowledge of LabVIEW, or other data acquisition system.PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITIONFINGER DEXTERITY: Typing and operating office equipment.TALKING: Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skillsHEARING: Excellent listening, comprehension and interpersonal communication skillsVISUAL ABILITIES: View and review documents and hardwarePHYSICAL STRENGTH: Able to lift maximum of 40 lbsWORKING CONDITIONS (Any hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions?)This position is predominantly inside work in a production environment; with regular visits to vendor and customer sites for evaluations and transition work. It will require irregular working hours, some evenings, and occasional weekend work.
