The incumbent will be expected to customarily and regularly use discretion and independent judgment in performing the job duties and will direct the work of two or more employees.To maximize profitability of the operation, enhance the public and professional image of the Spa and Spa areas, represent the resort in the public image, and to provide a positive environment for guests, members, and staff.To oversee and be responsible for budgets, sales, expenses, staffing, marketing, public relations, services, and management in the following areas for the Spa: marketing, sales, spa programs, exercise programs, retail operations, training, spa housekeeping, maintenance, spa pool, and the recreational special event programs for spa guests and patrons.To be directly responsible for the professional appearance and demeanor of the staff.To be directly responsible for cash flow, including revenues and expenses.To ensure that all cash, pricing, and purchasing controls are in place.To submit annual budgets and to develop long-range budgets for review by the General Manager.To hire, train, schedule, support, review, discipline, and terminate employees directly accountable to his/her/their position and to maintain highest possible levels of employee morale and department productivity.To be responsible for scheduling meetings, special events, departmental relations with resort and sales representatives, and to manage the scheduling of all spa staff including Spa Therapists, Spa Desk Attendants, Spa Housekeeping, and any other Spa employee.To review daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports, interdepartmental information, guest feedback and communication, and retail systems.To closely coordinate the promotion of services and programs with the Front Desk, Concierge, Rooms & Housekeeping, Sales & Marketing, Engineering, Catering & Conference Services, Food & Beverage, and special event coordinators.To provide regular detailed reports, including any action items pending with various departments regarding physical, mechanical, and housekeeping needs of the Spa.To develop policies and procedures for all areas of Spa operation.To maintain professional association participation in ISPA and other approved memberships benefiting the resort Spa operations.To be responsible for the purchase of retail, professional, and amenity supplies, and to be responsible for the monthly inventory counts for these items.To develop vendor relations with Spa suppliers.To have ongoing staff trainings, and to chair regular meetings to develop and evaluate Spa services, retail operations, programs, etc.JOB KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATIONAL LEVEL: Bachelor''s degree, Massage Therapist certification, and Esthetician license is preferred. English fluency is required. Must have minimum of 8 years experience in spa related industry, including 2 years experience in management or supervisory position. Hotel experience is preferred. CPR certification is preferred. Must be computer literate in Word, Excel, and other programs. Familiar with OSHA, SB 198, local Department of Health regulations, and relevant current laws governing the handling of hazardous substances.SKILLS AND APTITUDES: Detail oriented.
