To learn more, please see As Sr Engineering Manager, time will be divided between effort and attention to people management responsibilities and project team development responsibilities - leading a team of software developers (averaging about 35% of responsibility) and for application development and support! The role requires providing guidance and direction while working jointly with other managers and Project Leaders to provide leadership to the Agile teams. We are a matrixed environment, and needing situational leadership, able to function equally well as a leader or as a contributor respecting the team opinion. Job Duties As a Functional Manager (coach) + Meet with the Technology Solutions Partner and engineering leads to understand customers technological needs; provide guidance to potential technology solutions + Technically leading engineering teams to deliver achievements while improving quality and value. + Deliver value to plan, communicating clearly, engaging product teams, software engineers, interface designers and domain authorities across different parts of the organization + Design, architect, and implement new features with the expectation that you will own and drive the development in a Scrum environment + Lead a strong and engaged team focused on delivering quality products + Collaborate with the architecture team to design, develop and address complex business problems. Evolve the technology stack to meet growing scale demands in an operationally sound manner + Evaluate and supply to technical design documents that outline the technical risks and strategies for product initiatives. As a Team Member (player) + Solid understanding of salesforce platform (Studios and Builders), issues, and solution + Knowledge of cross-browser/platform issues and solutions + Helps break down, estimate, and provide just-in-time design for small increments of work + Uses a variety of software craftsman techniques (e.g. pair programming, test driven development) as appropriate to ensure consistently high quality code + Performs root cause analysis, technology evaluation, and design spikes to define architecture supporting high-quality resilient software Skills Required + Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent combination of education and recent relevant work experience required. + Minimum 5 years agile work environment experience following a continuous delivery approach, producing team created estimates and operate by team ownership + Minimum 3 years confirmed experience leading remote teams + Must have the ability to further collaboration within and across teams + Strong critical thinking and analytical skills + Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, demonstrate a bias for action, identify, resolve project issues quickly and effectively within a fast-paced environment + Experienced in structured software development methodologies including design, development and testing + Minimum 6 years confirmed experience with object-oriented systems and enterprise design patterns + Creative problem solving skills and ability to effectively communicate and translate feedback, needs and solutions + May require up to 30% travel, including international travel Preferred + Experience with large scale content and/or structured systems including Content Management and transactional systems + Knowledge of Salesforce Marketing Cloud implementation and automation.
