Cloud Network Architect, Boulder, CO *Must be eligible for Public Trust Clearance** We are looking for a Cloud Network Architect to join our team supporting a federal government client. In this role, the successful candidate will design and lead the implementation of an extensible multi-vendor IaaS/PaaS cloud infrastructure to meet the federal agency''s current and future needs. Work is remote due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but can become office work at any time. The Cloud Network Architect must have significant experience creating new and moving existing workloads to the cloud. The successful candidate will create, oversee rollout, and serve as the point of escalation for managed network, security, and computational solutions. In this role, the successful candidate will design and lead the implementation of an extensible multi-vendor IaaS/PaaS cloud infrastructure to meet the federal agency''s current and future needs. Summary: The Cloud Network Architect must have significant experience creating new and moving existing workloads to the cloud. The successful candidate will create, oversee rollout, and serve as the point of escalation for managed network, security, and computational solutions. The position requires on-site presence at the client facilities in Silver Spring, MD. Boulder, CO, may be considered as an alternate location. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Engage with line and program offices to develop solutions architecture, design and implement proof of concept projects, deploy new services for customers, and support the operational Cloud environment * Build scalable network infrastructure integrating offerings from Amazon Web Services, Azure, OpenStack, and/or other cloud solutions * Develop, implement, and maintain security, load balancing, and monitoring procedures and rules within managed environments * Engage with customers to understand workload and application requirements for IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS services and recommend improvements for customer success * Develop enhancements to the existing managed service environment, design and develop proof of concept implementations for new features * Establish best practices to ensure governance and compliance * Lead the change control process with a team of cloud and network engineers * Ensure operational environments meet customer SLAs * Perform other job-related duties as assigned Supervisory/Management Authority: * This role does NOT exercise supervisory or management authority Education and/or Experience: * Bachelor''s degree in Information Systems or related field or equivalent experience * Practical experience migrating customer workloads from premises to cloud * Strong understanding of AWS and Azure technologies across compute, storage, network, database * Experience deploying Network Virtual Appliances in Cloud, most preferably from Fortinet (Palo Alto, Cisco, or F5 experience will be considered) * Deep operational experience ensuring efficient troubleshooting and speed to problem resolution Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: (example: specific software, soft skills, etc. - This gets deleted) * Proven knowledge of Direct Connect, ExpressRoute and VPN connectivity options to connect AWS/Azure, and on-premises for hybrid connectivity * Strong working knowledge of networking protocols and technologies including BGP, IPsec, network segmentation, VRFs, Switching, VLANs and load balancers. * Strong understanding of identity management, federated identity systems (Microsoft ADFS), MFA, and Active Directory integration with cloud apps and Azure AD * Working knowledge of modern DevOps practices, containerization, security, and observability * Scripting ability to enable automation solutions and deploy infrastructure as code, interacting with Azure Resource Manager (ARM) with Terraform, Azure PowerShell, and Azure CLI * Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, and ability to communicate complex technical ideas to many audiences * 8+ years of experience in networking and 5+ years in cloud engineering * Excellent incident reporting and forensic skills are desired * Ability to successfully pass a drug screen and background investigation Work Environment: Work will be performed in a climate-controlled Federal office setting. Work from home is permitted currently due to COVID-19.
