Production Manager (Value Added Products)

OverviewVitro, North America''s largest manufacturer of architectural and automotive glass is currently seeking a Production Manager for their Value Added Product Departments at its Carlisle, PA location. The basic functions of this position is to provide the necessary management and technical support to the Tempering and Coating operation in order to attain optimum glass quality, maximize speeds and yields, produce at the lowest possible costs and develop the operational equipment to its maximum efficiency.Responsibilities• Manages tempering, cutdown and coater production operations• Assures high level of commitment to safety, housekeeping, environmental, health, and security concerns. Establishes policy to assure top priority for these concerns.• Assures the goals of the organization and goals of the individual employees are in mutual support. • Assures growth and training of individuals throughout the organization. • Must work closely with Production Control and Shipping to direct and facilitate optimum production schedules, shipping, and inventory management. • Must work with QC to optimize current quality and to provide real time decision making about products when quality is marginal.• Liaison with sales team regarding product requirement and packaging requirementsQualifications• B.S. Degree in Engineering or applicable degree is required• 6+ Years of Leadership Experience is required• Exhibited leadership and administrative ability• Possess the characteristics recognized as desirable in supervising employees and effectively controlling their activities.• Strong verbal and written communication skills• Ability to supervise, train and develop all direct reports• Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure• Ability to motivate and develop creativity within a team• Initiates changes which lead to general improvement of operations.• Expertise in computer systems, including Microsoft and data entry systems
