This isa hard-news beat, as features on winemakers, food pairings and events are ablycovered elsewhere in our stead, it is a mix of agricultural, labor - which necessarilyinvolves exploring the tensions between those who pick the fruit and those whoown the fields - and environmental journalism. This beat crosses over severalothers in the newsroom, so having a collaborative spirit is key to success.Additionally, as many of the people who work in the fields speak limitedEnglish, the ability to conduct interviews in Spanish is extremely important.Despite its outsized importance for Napa County, we have not had alabor or environmental reporter for some time, so this is a chance to truly cutyour own path and make it your own.
