UNM is great place to start your career which great benefits and supportive training.The Department of Chemistry & Chemical Biology is seeking an Accounting Clerk to join our high performing-dynamic team. We are looking for a friendly, detail-oriented, problem-solving individual with excellent customer service skills. The Department currently has 16 tenure-track faculty who have a large research portfolio. These research activities require continuous purchasing of chemicals and lab supplies and will require continuous communication with faculty/research assistants.The candidate who is selected for this position must be flexible and adaptive to a variety of customers and responsive to needs of the researchers within the Department of Chemistry & Chemical Biology. Other important skills include: attention to detail, comfortable with basic math, reconciliation, invoicing and balancing.Duties include the following:Primary P-Card holder for the Department Processing all chemical and lab supplies transactions on a P-card ranging from $30,000 to $45,000 on a monthly basis.Working with vendors to ensure products are received and correct.Allocate charges to both restricted and unrestricted accounts, and maintain knowledge of available funds in accountsCompile and update research indices spreadsheet overseen by the Accountant and help process documents for new grants/contracts.Assist faculty and staff with reimbursement requests on a daily basisAssist with NMR and MSF cost center billing, budgets, and other cost reportsSupport the department''s inventory process and ensure items bought receive an inventory tagDistribute, review, calculate, and process payroll time sheets; verifies account numbers; maintains sick and annual leave and other payroll recordsSee the Position Description for additional information.Conditions of EmploymentThis position is represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED; at least 6 months of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities pleted degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.Preferred QualificationsPreferences:Associates or Bachelor''s in accounting or financeBasic accounting or bookkeeping coursesAdvanced data entry skillsFamiliarity with Microsoft Office Suite and ChromeRiver (or similar reconciliation software)Comfortable with basic math and number calculationsKnowledge of payroll practicesAbility and curiosity to analyze and solve complex problemsOutstanding customer service attitudeExcellent team engagementAdditional RequirementsOfficial transcripts, High school diploma or GED certificate will be required for hire.
