I. Job Summary The Kitchen Mechanic is responsible for technical diagnostics and performs specialized repairs on a wide variety of commercial grade food service appliances, equipment and systems including refrigeration and freezer units and compressors, dish machines, disposals, gas ovens, grills, and other electrical, electronic and mechanical devices Competitive wage and excellent benefits. II. Specific Job Knowledge The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. • Perform scheduled and unplanned repairs on all commercial kitchen equipment and appliances. • Actively works to complete open and outstanding work orders • Perform preventive maintenance inspections on all commercial kitchen equipment and appliances. • Maintains service and repair of ice machines, refrigeration units, walk-in refrigerators and freezers. • Maintain, service and repair of exhaust and makeup air systems • Contact and coordinate work with outside vendors and coordinate all activities and repairs with supervisory personnel. • Identify operating challenges that lead to kitchen equipment failure in restaurants and kitchens. • Detect, repair, and document activity and report on improper faulty equipment. • Respond to service order requests. • Adhere to safety policies and procedures and OSHA regulations. • Other duties as assigned. III. Supportive Functions In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the requirements of the company. • To assist with requests to shut off steam, water and gas supplies. • Assist in the monitoring and maintenance of standpipe, sprinkler and interior fire alarm systems. • Change filters on HVAC and fan coil units. • Due to the cyclical nature of our business, other duties and special projects may be assigned, such as serving on the hotel fire brigade. QUALIFICATION STANDARDS EDUCATION High School graduate or equivalent required in addition to. Familiar with basic computer programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Knowledge of and experience with basic hand tools and testing devices Experience with refrigeration equipment in a commercial kitchen Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. EXPERIENCE At least three to five years'' experience in a commercial kitchen environment. LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES Ability to obtain any government required license or certificate. CPR certification and/or First Aid training preferred. Any licenses or permits that may be required by law or company regulations, such as an Electrician''s license.
