Job DescriptionSymetra has an exciting opportunity to join our Investment Management Team as a Quantitative Application Developer. About the roleThe Quantitative Application Developer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of applications used in the derivatives front office to perform analytics to support trading/investment decision-making, store data and report results. Such applications include derivatives pricing and risk software as well as credit research applications. The developer will have a strong understanding of derivative analytics for at least one asset class (equity and/or interest rates). This is a fully remote position.Symetra Investment Management (SIM) was established in 2019 and is a subsidiary of Symetra who is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sumitomo Life of Japan. SIM enables Sumitomo to invest in the U.S. markets and to expand in-house asset management capabilities. SIM is also an SEC-registered investment advisor providing third party investment management to institutional clients. What you will doThe developer will be responsible for implementation and testing of pricing and risk modules that are specified by the front office derivatives team, with a focus on run-time efficiency, parallel processing, and memory consumption. In consultation with members of the front office derivatives team, design and implement other tools and systems aimed at improving the trading and investment process or assessing the viability of new hedging strategies and/or new product initiatives including developing GUIs. The developer will also be responsible for database programming; the design and implementation of MS SQL database capabilities that permit rapid computation and reporting of derivative model results, and the design of custom reporting capabilities to satisfy needs in trading, attribution, risk analysis, collateral management, compliance testing, and/or management reporting.Why Work at SymetraHere''s what some of our employees have to say about why they work at Symetra."If you want to invest in yourself and build a career, this is a great place to work. Check out our Symetra Benefits OverviewCompensationSalary Range: $105,000 - $175,000 plus eligibility for annual bonus programRequirementsYour experience and skillsBS. degree in a quantitative discipline, such as mathematics, computer science, engineering, or operations research and evidentiary information supporting quantitative development proficiency. 5 + years of experience in quantitative application development and database programming work in a high-level language: C, SQL, VBA, Python, MS Office automation is required. Knowledge of Numerix/Murex/Fincad/Calypso or other 3rd party vendor modeling software is recommended.5+ years of experience with application development and derivative analytics in a bank, insurance company, or asset management firm, including familiarity with the theory and methods of derivatives pricing models including market data processing and numerical techniques (such as monte carlo simulation). In lieu of such experience, we may accept academic experience with derivatives theory and modeling, if demonstrable, or if obtained from a recognized source, such as an MFE degree, CQF designation, or FSA (investments track).
