Be involved in projects with our Earth and Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients objectives and solves their challenges.Your ImpactField testing and sampling of soil and aggregate materialsUse of a nuclear gauge for soil density testingConducting field investigations and environmental sampling programsGeosynthetics monitoring and testingConstruction observation and documentationDocument interpretation to ensure projects are completed in accordance with project design drawings and technical specificationsInteraction with contractors and owners in a positive and constructive manner to solve issues that arise during constructionAssist with other field activities as needed including but not limited to geophysical surveys, stormwater and groundwater sampling, surveying, etc.Participation and contribution to daily safety meetingsLegal and safe operation of vehicle on behalf of the companyMaintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurement and documentationGenerate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and field/work site notebookComply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which include but are not limited to, the maintenance of sample collection, location data, laboratory or statistical documentation, and logbooksPerform additional responsibilities as required by business needsWho You AreRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED)At least three (3) years of experience as a field technician in construction quality assurance (CQA)The ability to perform all duties within established deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.Daily report writing and construction documentation is required.The ability to communicate constructively with contractors, owners and Project Managers is essential.Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, compute rate, ratio, percent, and draw and interpret bar graphsAnalytical mindset to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions.Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from data collation, calculations, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective and logical solution.Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSPs health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, and strong work ethic.Ability to speak and hear, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and walk up/down slopes.Basic proficiency with business writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and toolsProficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environmentMust be able to work up to 12-hours outdoors in hot or cold environments safely.Preferred QualificationsAssociates or four-year degreeExperience working in a large civil or mining environmentAn understanding of civil and geotechnical engineering design and background in earthworks construction including the ability to read and understand technical civil design drawings and technical specifications.Experience with on-site geotechnical lab testing is a plusLI-MC2Additional RequirementsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily.
