JOB DESCRIPTION: The person in this position, working with Marketing, Sales and Consumer Insights will provide timely business insights and business recommendations to help formulate strategies that drive category growth via our brand initiatives and Category Growth Strategies. Additionally, this role will be the conduit for pushing Category and Brand leadership strategies from HQ to the sales team. This role will support the sales team on all category management activities with the retailer. A high level of communication with sales is required to facilitate this collaborative process. RESPONSIBILITIES: Using a variety of syndicated and internal data to track, analyze and communicate category/brand dynamics and sales trends. Creating and analyzing scorecards for field sales, category sales and marketing teams for brands/categories of responsibility. Provides periodic and ad-hoc reporting based on issues discovered in the periodic reports that dig deep into markets and products issues with solid recommendations. Monthly delivery of actionable (actionable=answer the so what + action) tracking reports to include but not limited to: New items and their volume transfer Market share Modular tests & new strategies Pricing ROM performance Assisting in the development of fact-based selling presentations which will be used by category sales and field sales to meet Hormel Deli Solutions objectives and grow sales. Developing presentations for new item and category initiatives for use in the field and analyzing the performance of new items and category initiatives nationwide. Identifying opportunities and threats affecting brands of responsibility. Informing and managing projects to build base sales of the categories and brands of responsibility. Evaluating the performance of various trade promotion events and identifying the elements impacting performance (competition, pricing, display support, promotional tactics, etc). Actively involved in the trade promotion analysis, making recommendations to the national category sales teams in the development of the brands trade strategy and DSMPs (Distribution, Shelving, Merchandising, and Pricing.) Has responsibility for conducting full customer category management reviews, analyzing business issues, and providing business insights and recommendations in the areas of assortment, pricing, promotion and shelf presentation to drive business results. The Senior Category Development Analyst will develop appropriate recommendations and actionable plans for the retailer to execute against in the process of category development. For example, the Senior Category Development Analyst may perform assortment analysis, identifying distribution gaps for the retailer and appropriate actions to close said gaps. Is responsible for competitive and marketplace intelligence, analysis and reporting. This would include share gap reporting, price gap reporting, and market visits that determine competitive retailer strategies and tactics. For example, the Senior Category Development Analyst will analyze market gap opportunities for the retailer. They would execute a POS and Panel analysis to understand the performance dynamics and may perform a market visit to understand specific tactics and that support the share advantage. QUALIFICATIONS: Required: A bachelor''s degree. 3+ years of sales/marketing/analytics experience. A pattern of initiative. Proven problem solving and decision-making skills. The ability to work in a team environment on a variety of complex projects. Well-developed interpersonal, organizational skills and analytical skills. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills. Strong ability to present to and negotiate with the customer. Proficient in working with IRi data. Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States. Proficient in working with loyalty card data. Proficient in working with retailer POS data systems. LOCATION: Remote. Open to candidates across the US.
