Then you should join Lockheed Martin Space''s Optical Payload Center of Excellence (OPCoE) for space applications as an Optical Straylight and Analysis Engineer. As an Optical Engineer with OPCoE, your responsibilities will include:• Analyzing and designing optical stray light mitigation schemes from ultraviolet to infrared using industry standard codes (i.e. ASAP and FRED)• Working with internal customers and the rest of the optical design engineering teams (designer, mechanical engineer, optical system engineer) to get requirements data and to complete stray light control design• Integrating optical and mechanical design forms into the stray light model• Reviewing the stray light mitigation designs of peers• Making recommendations on use of vanes and baffles to mitigate stray light design• Making full backward ray traces from the detector focal plane to all points accessible by the detector field of view• Analyzing trade studies• Recommending design to peers, management, and external customers We are looking for someone with a strong background in optical engineering. The optical forms we work with are fully reflective, refractive, and catadioptric. You should be familiar with:• Materials properties for optical materials and telescope structural materials such as bidirectional reflectance distribution functions (BRDF) and emissivity vs. wavelength, and their polarization effects•Thermal emission forms of stray light in infrared systems, the emissivity properties of optical materials and telescope structural materials, and the use of cold and warm mask techniques to control thermal emission from the optical system from getting into the detector area• Stray light analysis efforts for a complex system and know that it can be very extensive, and that sometimes lower fidelity analyses and ''rule of thumb'' designs may be needed to do trade studies in a timely manner You should demonstrate effective verbal communication, develop concise and professional technical presentations, and deliver briefings to peers, leadership, and US government customers. Basic Qualifications:• Optical straylight design knowledge and experience• Experience or knowledge of integrating optical and mechanical design models into a straylight analysis code• Experience or knowledge of manufacturing methods of individual optics, and/or alignment methods of assemblies, including optical shop testing methods (i.e. interferometry and other metrology)• Design experience for manufacturing• Current Secret clearance or equivalentDesired Skills:• Current Top Secret clearance• Large optics stray light design experience• Space optics stray light design experience• Three mirror or four mirror anastigmat stray light control experience• Multi-apectral, hyperspectral, or laser systems stray light control design experience• Test verification of stray light control designs• Work with the rest of the optical design team to negotiate agreements on the design parameters and understanding of design notes• Evaluate vendor proposals for stray light control as necessary• Ability to incorporate as-built stray light measurements into stray light designs and verify designs vs. measurements.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:job.Qualifications Lockheed Martin is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
