Some office skills are also necessary for specific departments.Duties:UAF Facilities Services Student Assistants work under general direction. Duties will vary depending on the department which is hiring. Supervisors from Campus Mail Center/Central Receiving or Custodial Contracts hire students on an as needed basis. Typical duties will require: basic computer skills, ability to work with others, ability to follow directions, regular attendance and timeliness, and to meet general expectations expressed by supervisor. Facilities Services Student Assistants oftentimes are performing tasks which require general physical activities; handling and moving objects, manual dexterity, physical coordination, strength, stamina, and working indoors or outdoors. Some office environment.KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:Exercises independent judgment and decision-making.Ability to provide excellent customer service at all times.Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, in a professional and courteous manner.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals and groups and to work successfully as a member of a team.Ability to follow directions/instructions given by supervisors and co-workers.Knowledge of basic phone skills and etiquette.Ability to ensure accuracy with assigned tasks.Ability to operate basic equipment.Ability to file and track information.Basic computer skills.Regular attendance and timeliness.TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:Prior related experience or a strong interest in the trade/field.Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.Possess a valid driver''s license, not required for Custodial Department.Ability to understand safe driving regulations and methods.Salary:This is a Student Assistant position with a starting salary of $14.00/hour, depending on experience.Minimum Requirements:Must currently be a University of Alaska student, enrolled and regularly attending six (6) or more credit hours and must possess a 2.0 or better cumulative grade point average (CGPA).Special Instructions to Applicants:Please submit a resume, cover letter and the contact information for 3 professional references.For general inquires contact Facilities Services Human Resources (907)474-2657.The review process for applications will be begin on June 30, 2022.
