For more information click on our E-Verify Website (.Requisition No: 717884 Agency: Department of HealthWorking Title: OPS REGISTERED NURSE - 64901472Position Number: 64901472 Salary: $35/Hour Posting Closing Date: 08/29/2022 Job posting - Open Competitive Your Specific Responsibilities: This OPS Registered Nurse position is time limited in the public school system in Alachua County; July 19, 2022 thru June 1, 2023. The position will provide covid contact tracing, reporting and assistance with sample collection, screening testing, and vaccine clinics as needed. Training will be provided for collection techniques, PPE and other laboratory processes. Supports additional COVID-19 response activities, as assigned. Nurse will provide coverage for the covid isolation room, provide contact tracing which include information on guidelines and recommendations regarding isolation and quarantine, documenting, reporting and school clinic assistance and/or clinic relief if staff nurse is unavailable as assigned by Supervisor. Provides case management and referrals for parents and guardians. The nurse in this position will provide relief to any of the School Board of Alachua County (SBAC) schools. This nurse OPS position is directly supervised by the Alachua County Health Department (ACHD) School Health Coordinator RN Supervisor in coordination with the Health Services Supervisor, School Nurse on campus and Principal. This position will provide support services by coordinating and providing clinical services/activities in the isolation room and school clinic(s). This nurse position functions under approved SBAC and ACHD policies, protocols, and procedures. Job could be extended based on department need. Position requires travel within Alachua County. Nurse shall be responsible and accountable for making decisions that are based upon the individuals educational preparation, scope of practice and experience in nursing. In addition, but not limited to, providing covid duties and interventions as stated above. Establishes safe clinic procedures ensuring compliance with policies, protocols, and other instructions provided by coordinator of health services or contained in department manuals. This position that will staff the isolation room, provide contact tracing, school clinic assistance and/or relief as assigned by Supervisor. Performs basic health evaluation of students who present on campus with health care needs including administration of medication(s)/treatment(s) and monitoring any adverse reactions within state law and board policies. Reports medical errors as appropriate. Uses current approved intervention/protocol(s) to provide care based on policies, protocols, procedures and practitioner (physician) order(s). Provides nursing evaluation, planning, intervention, management and referral activities for students with acute/chronic health problems including initiating emergency procedures as indicated in emergent situations. In addition, provides health education supporting the promotion of wellness, maintenance of health, and prevention of illness. Documents all services provided to students in appropriate district provided format using acceptable nursing terminology on the appropriate School Board of Alachua County (SBAC) form(s) and/or computer program. Performs basic health evaluation and medical assistance to staff and visitors who present on campus with health care needs including initiating emergency procedures as indicated in emergent situations. Serve as a health liaison between home and school. Counsel students and parents concerning health conditions/problems as needed. Assist parent/guardians on how to acquire health insurance, free or low-cost care to assist in health care needs and referrals. Prepares and maintains the school clinic area for use assuring safety, orderliness and cleanliness. Licensure/registration/certification requirements (if applicable, list the appropriate Florida Statute or federal regulation cite): Valid Nursing License and American Heart First Aid and CPR certification. Works in SpNS and in emergencies and/or natural disasters to provide direct patient care or support. Performs related work as required. Other job-related requirements for this position: Incumbent may be required to work during or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency operation functions of the incumbent include but are not limited to special needs shelters, Red Cross Shelters, or other emergency functions. Other job duties as requested and within individuals educational preparation, training, scope of practice and experience in health care. Responsible for securing the designated information sets for the purposes of protecting confidentiality, data integrity, and appropriate access, for all information, both confidential and public record, which is stored in hard copy or electronic format. Position requires ability to type 30 or better words a minute and interpret on a personal computer.
