We are dedicated to attracting, developing and retaining a diverse workforce that fosters creativity and enables our ongoing success.Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities• In conjunction with Republic''s President, defines underwriting strategy and recommends business plans that will drive continued profitable business growth in current and future markets.• Utilizes data, statistical and quantitative analysis, explanatory and predictive modeling, and fact-based management to drive decision-making with a focus on underwriting profitability. • Cultivates relationships internally and externally to identify, understand and make recommendations about business opportunities, challenges, and threats.• In collaboration with the Chief Technology Officer, oversees the development of the company''s underwriting systems.• Responsible for development, implementation, direction, and compliance of company underwriting guidelines, policies, procedures, legislative, regulatory, and market conduct issues.• Responsible for submitting filings to the Departments of Insurance for new and revised programs, non-standard forms, manual pages, and rules and rate revisions.• Responsible for review and approval of underwriting referrals for accounts that exceed branch authority.• Oversees underwriting training programs.• Oversees the preparation of the reinsurance submission, as well as creating and maintaining relationships with reinsurance broker and reinsurers.• Accountable for hiring, performance management, employee development and coaching of staff. Plans and ensures that the staff meets budget and performance targets. Aligns business unit with business objectives.• Performs other duties as assigned.Job Requirements• Education: Bachelor''s degree in Business, Finance, or Technology; Master''s in Business Administration preferred. Preferred certifications include Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) or Associate or Fellow Casualty Actuary (ACAS or FCAS).• Experience and Skills: o Minimum of 10 years proven and progressive workers'' compensation underwriting management experience, including home office underwriting, with the ability to work well in a small team environment and to manage remote workers. o Previous experience in high-level strategy development and implementation.o Demonstrable track record of driving profitable business decisions and generating business growth.o Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills, including ability to translate complex ideas into understandable insights to support executive decision-making and lead a diverse team.o Highly effective interpersonal skills with ability to effectively engage senior executives, management, staff, and external stakeholders.o Experience in creating underwriting business plans and managing reinsurance pany:RICA Republic Indemnity Company of AmericaNumber of Positions:1
