POSITION SUMMARY: Opportunity to join NuScale''s innovation team and work on R&D and strategic projects for NuScale''s small modular reactor (SMR) technology, with a specific focus on industrial uses of heat and power such as hydrogen production. Work will involve execution and coordination of R&D tasks in collaboration with NuScale''s internal team and external organizations (commercial companies, national laboratories and universities). ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Perform techno-economic assessments for industrial applications of nuclear heat and powerCoordinate and support proposal development to secure funding for R&D projectsLiaison with stakeholders pursuing heat and power for industrial applications such as hydrogen production Evaluate the feasibility and value of new concepts and technologiesInitiate and support contract placement with external organizations Coordinate R&D projects in collaboration with commercial companies, national laboratories and universitiesPublish results from innovation projectsProvide presentations to internal and external organizations on R&D projectsPerforms other duties as assignedCORE COMPETENCIES: To perform the job successfully, the individual should demonstrate competencies in performing the essential functions of this position by performing satisfactorily in each of these competencies. MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES: Education: A Masters or Doctorate degree in engineering is required. A degree is chemical, mechanical, or nuclear engineering is preferred. Experience: 5 years of full-time working experience in research, design or technology development is required. Specific experience is desired in: Design, operation or deployment of chemical or petrochemical process plants Economic evaluations of industrial projects Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
